What was I looking for in this program? I was looking to make healthier choices for myself and my family. My goal was to avoid having chronic illness in my older years and to learn to make healthy choices and habits now to prevent health issues in the future. My family medical history is full of cardiac issues and strokes. We are a family of 4 that tended to eat more junk and take away rather than healthy, nutritious meals because we are time poor and because my mother with early dementia prefers McDonald’s over a salad any day of the week. I needed advice and support in finding ways to help make quick, easy and nutritious choices that my mother would be happy to eat. Working with Lyndal, my dietitian from Miyagi, we were able to identify that I have high cholesterol as a result of my life choices and have started working together to incorporate a cholesterol lowering diet into our daily meals, increasing my exercise and finding ways to encourage mum to try new foods. As I have a couple of other health issues that I have discussed with Lyndal and mum has mild dementia, we have also discussed foods that would benefit all those conditions and how to incorporate them into my diet. Together, Lyndal and I have started making changes and creating habits. She keeps me accountable with our weekly calls. She suggests ways to keep myself accountable as well. We discuss new recipes and how to use foods I haven’t cooked with before. It’s all made easy with the use of the Healthie app, I can document everything I cook and every time I exercise and Lyndal monitors it and provides suggestions, advice and encouragement on each entry. If I’ve made a choice that could be altered to make it healthier, she will make suggestions to improve my choices on the entry itself or on the next call. The dieticians are human and realistic, so if you’re having a bad week, they don’t make you feel bad for making poor choices but they encourage you to start again as soon as you’re feeling better. As I am a busy shift worker, we also discuss healthy food options for meals and snacks at work while I am time poor. There is also a Facebook page and chat where you can find support from others in the program at the same time and share recipes. It’s very helpful when you’re looking for dinner and don’t know what to eat. There is always something that looks enticing! I am so glad I have started this program. I am learning to look after myself and everyone in my family by improving our diet and lifestyle choices. I was skeptical at first however my dietician Olivia has shown me that my diet mentality was basically ruining any chance of having a good relationship with food. My mindset has changed significantly and that’s a big win after 30 plus years of yo-yo dieting. I didn’t lose any weight but I didn’t diet for six months and my weight stayed the same which was a win to me. It’s really opened my eyes to a new way of living and no food is bad. It’s all about balance.

Bronte, my Nuitritionist was amazing. So knowledgeable about food options, exercising with injury and supporting the journey. I had some other medical issues along the way but Bronte and the program information helped me make good choices. The Facebook support page helped with my isolation. Great program and great people.

Completed my course with Grace my dietician. She was always supportive. I learnt so much about food and how it impacts the body. Since finishing I have kept on with healthy eating and am still making good choices. So pleased I did the course

Miyagi helped me in my journey to beat Pre Diabeties/Diabetes Type 2 which was affecting my life post 60 years of age, with valued great new recipe planning, a helpful easy to follow exercise program, & support & encouragement from trained professionals. Thank you to all of you especially my Dietician Rhea. I got the big wake up call originally a few years ago when I was blood & glucose tested to get a H Endorsement to drive School buses here I Darwin NT, my blood sugar levels & triglyceride were through the roof, & they do this medical testing to make sure you will not succumb to a diabetic coma or heart attack when you are driving a bus full of school children from A to B....I am certainly glad they do this testing ... Anyway my doctors said I didn't need metaformin or other statin type drugs & I could fix my high cholesterol, bad blood sugar levels with a careful review of my diet, lifestyle, exercise & bottom line just healthy lifestyle..... Miyagi gave me valued guidance & great recipe plans, exercise programme & support to achieve great goals in the six months & significantly reduce blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels. The food I eat is tasty & nutritious, I cook a lot of my own creations & there are some great things I had never considered before advice from a great dietician to help me validate my diet, exercise, lifestyle planning.... If I can do anyone can do it, I recommend Miyagi for your journey out of pain & discomfort, & to live a full & active life like me past your 60s.

. Communication. This was very important to me. I have alot going on in which contributed to not always being able to achieve my goals. My coach, is a great listener & always suggested ways of breaking down options to help assist in achieving my goals. 2. Trustworthy, honesty, reliable, professional. My coach ticked all of these boxes for me. I've been able to get back on track with a healthy eating plan. Whilst the exercise has been slower to achieve, it is happening, finally. The most important thing I achieved, was to take time out for myself. Moving house recently, this was such a huge thing to try and do. I welcomed the fortnightly calls from my coach who always steered me in the right direction, providing support and resources for the programme to refer to. 3. The Miyagi Healthy App. This was such a user friendly system. I found no problem navigating around it at all. From great recipes, videos, moving scheduled appointments etc, just so easy. 4. I enjoyed the programme and love the fact I'm still able to have access to the App and reach out to the team. 5. The Miyagi FB I joined as well and whilst not posting alot here, I did follow the group for some great members advice and their achievements too. 6. Finally, with all the information, support provided, the thing to remember, is, it was up to me to refer to and use it. I've completed my programme and can say Miyagi certainly excelled in all of the above. They have given me the opportunity to think differently about myself in the way of living a healthier lifestyle and the importance of my own wellbeing, so thank you.

One of the best decisions I have made in a long time. I have learned so much about food, nutrition and health. I’ve lost a bit of weight, I’m more active, feel a million times better and have not had a migraine since I started looking after myself better. The weekly chats with my dietitian are so good and the tracking app is fabulous. At the start it helps you and your dietitian to see what you are eating and also why. Are you hungry? Bored? Anxious? Habit eating? Your dietitian gives you feedback and helps you to improve your balance on the plate and suggests additions or subtractions for balance. The program is about empowering you as a reasonable person to educate yourself by using the tools offered in the app., via the FB support group and videos and live chats etc. I work full time so joining the live chats is not possible but I can watch them later if I choose to. I have not felt this well in a very long time.

My experience has been enjoyable thanks to Clare's friendly, informative, helpful, and educational guidance and support. She has been clear and concise on the information and advice she has provided, making it easy to understand and follow. She has been great in the way she has answered any questions I've had. She has been encouraging in my weight loss journey, which has been much appreciated. Clare shows genuine interest in how I am and the progress I'm making. I'm very grateful for the advice, guidance and support I've received from Clare. It has definitely made my weightloss journey easier and more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, I signed up - there was no real option to not sign - very pushy on entry phone call to sell, sell, sell! No cooling-off period. My doctor would not approve for me getting the blood tests required for the dietitian consult and did not want me to waste my money on this. Plus since joining 10 days ago I had been in hospital with a medical condition of which I am currently being treated for. Miyaki will not allow me to be out of the contract as I need an exceptional circumstance (Basically a dying reason) to be absolved from this agreement. My emails have been bombarded with videos, emails etc and it appears that you basically need to research everything on your own. It is all online. I am not sure that a contract cannot allow a cooling-off period. I am far from happy and will be taking this further. In response to your reply - Actually, there is no resolution other than you are stuck in the contract and have to pay! So not quite sure where/how you think we are trying to resolve this issue.

Unless you genuinely have no idea about what food is good or bad this is a pointless program."

Having the Dietician to talk to every fortnight is fantastic and knowing that when our time is up I can still access the Healthy app for healthy recipes, information and use Facebook for support and information, too. So far, it's been the best thing I have done.

The program has been great for me. I went into it ready for change. My dietitian listened and help me develop sustainable changes. The initial screening was easy and helpful. I was able to claim dietitian sessions on my health fund.

Hi all With my time in this program coming to an end I would just like to say how great it was for me Before I started I had had a pretty crap year with losing my father in law and my own father having a stroke I was surviving on junk food and diabetes tablets I had no care for myself I then saw this program on Facebook and showed my wife. I thought this may work to get me on track to a better life style I had my first call from Lance and we came up with a meal plan that was easy When I started my blood sugar levels were high teens 18 plus my weight was 110 kilograms Now after 6 months my blood sugar is 7.1 and my weight is 97.8kilos I have had no salt since starting and I think I can count on one hand how many times I’ve had junk food Lance has been absolutely great with me with what I’ve done and what I can now do on my own it’s just great to get the phone call each week to see how I did and what else I can do to all that read this I hope you all do as well as I have just because this is nearly over it’s not going to stop for me but it’s going to help and keep me going on

The lovely Georgia was my dietician throughout my journey and I couldn't have asked for a better person to interact with. Her knowledge of all things diet related, her understanding, compassionate way toward me and her beautiful friendly yet professional attitude are second to none. Without her regular calls and encouragement, I honestly don't think I would have stuck with the program. I knew what I had to do, I just needed to make myself accountable to someone so I would commit 100% until this became my lifestyle. Which I am proud to say it has 🙂 The thing I like most about this is that it's not reliant on shakes, or fads of any kind, it's all just common sense. Which makes it easy to maintain after your program is finished.

Small steps....that was all I needed to do and of course rewire my brain to create new habits. The journey has only just begun as this is a life time journey im feeling alot better on the inside and have lost a few kgs as well

The Miyagi experience was interesting. I was hoping to lose the 10kg I have gained after a brush with breast cancer & a sport injury. Unhappily, I didn’t lose any weight at all. Also, the program confirmed that I am quite diet/nutrition savvy probably after losing around the same weight gain with weight watchers around 15 years ago. My initial blood test confirmed my good nutritional health status with not much to tweak. I thought the weekly call was as helpful and my dietician was helpful & kind. I think I may have done better if the goals we identified were more around weight loss rather than dietary habits. Since completing the program I reflect that I have made a few helpful tweaks around managing my cake/biscuit preference which is helpful and will be a good behaviour change going into my own, unsupported, weight loss plan that I am starting now.
