PCUPGRADE - Direct Distributor of Modern and Legacy PC Components
I could (and did) waste my time on eBay searching a replacement battery & charger for my 8-year-old HP laptop. The inherent 'catch 22' in using a dying device to access the solution was fraught ; the later absurdity (how do you check battery code without taking it out? - when laptop will switch off!) caused a rethink. If (say) I was looking for a particular coffee, why was I hunting around Lidl or Aldi, when a Waitrose might be a telephone call away?? And I wouldn't have to use the dying laptop... So I Duckgogo searched. Found 'pcupgrade’s site, balked for a moment at 0844 code (why?), then saw international +44 listing. Drop the '4's, '0' in front, direct call, no premium. Straight through to Leo. Who was polite, efficient and very, very helpful. We discussed various chargers (the wattage can vary, while improving performance) and batteries. I bought one of each. The battery came by courier two days later ; the charger the day after. Leo's (and the printed) instructions were clear. Normally at 70%, the battery should be installed & run down before charging - to maximise efficiency. I did as was told, the laptop booted, showed 70%, 69%, 68%. Then the screen/laptop died. In front of my panicking eyes. I rang Leo (straight through), and he explained what my frozen brain should have realised - Don't Trust The First Reading. The taskbar meter might have said 70%, but the battery may have discharged during storage/transit. Power Up, And Wait. (Which I did, with him still on phone) Success!! Boot, display... charging. Leo repeated the advice about running battery down after it had charged ; he also gave some pointers on unneeded background programs which were maybe eating up power. He must have spent twenty minutes on the call since he first answered (and much the same with the previous initial call). Waitrose? More like Fortnum & Mason (without the mark-up). My advice: Stop wasting your time on shortcut shopping, and call the experts. Sure, you might pay perhaps a little more - but what's your time actually worth? Why waste it grubbing around for a deal, then wait fearfully for an item that may or may not arrive (or, if it's wrong - cos you've misread the infinitesimal small print - the returns post & packing BS?). And, blessedly, I have a contact. Who I trust. And why I'm leaving this proper review, rather than meaningless 'Feedback'...
Terrible. Save yourself the pain and order somewhere else even if it's more expensive. The items they advertise are out of stock. They will call with the worst attitude telling you they dont have your item, with no apology or helpfulness. Other reviewers have written about how common this is and how long it takes them to process refunds. You will basically be finding while they refund for an item they dont have and should have never advertised. See their Google reviews not trust pilot, there you will see an accurate picture. It's been curated here.
5-year-old i7 bespoke computer, 32GB ram, i7 with an EVGA GT640. The Graphics card fan was making a racket, I trawled the internet to find a replacement. Not really wanting to deep dive into my PC. 2 DVI ports was a major requirement as I run 2 UHD Dell screens. Ordered the new graphics card and waited. I got a phone call from them saying not in stock and DVI was not the best way to go. They came back to me within the hour with a number of suggestions, offering a mid range AMD graphics card and recommending me to clean my CPU. New card turned up along with a tube of heat paste. My CPU did not like being disturbed as it overheated straight away. New artic fan supplied the same day as well as more advice about fitting it. Sent me various links on how to etc. Stu and his team were most helpful and I would not hesitate recomending them to anyone.
i was wanting a AM3+ motherboard as mine had packed up, and did not want a second hand one as these motherboards are no longer available to buy, and if i was wanting to upgrade i would of had to buy additional components like CPU,RAM as DDR3 is not compatible with the latest DDR4,AM4. upon finding PCUPGRADE i found that they sell brand new, latest and old computer components, i was a bit skeptical about this at first as it seemed to good to be true, but after receiving my order for a ASROCK PRO 3 R.2 motherboard of which went out of production years ago, it was in its original box and package contents as new, and delivery was quick too. i had also contacted them prior to buying to ask for advice and found them helpful and knowledgeable about my system set up and in finding the right product for my needs, i would definitely recommend them and would buy again. PCUPGRADE is the aladdins cave of new and old computer components, excellent stuff.
Excellent customer service. Honest advice.
I rang Stu with a query and to beg a favour. To advance a claim on a tricky GPU issue, Stu took time to write a detailed email that clearly laid out the likely problems I'd encounter with a doubtful upgrade. Not only did he settle my mind about the right course of action, his advice was genuinely concerned with my needs as a customer — or potential customer —rather than his as a merchant. The next time I go in search of any component for my Mac Pro I'll make PCUpgrade my first stop. These are generous people who know their onions.
Incredibly helpful service. They gave impartial, thorough and polite advice throughout. Would 100% recommend to anyone in need of PC parts, or just some advice or explanations about PCs!
useless.... they kept me with the money blocked on PayPal account for 2 days, excluding weekend which was another 2. they were slow replying my emails... their reasons? ... they couldn't get hold of me VIA phone to sell me an ALTERNATIVE for the part that I ordered! I should have known that their service is identical to their website design.
PCUpgrade have gotten me out of a number of sticky spots in the recent past, with some ageing hardware, that should really be retired. They are great at sourcing replacements or compatible upgrades for that old PC that you absolutely can't be without. Big shoutout to Leo, for his knowledge and assistance. Would be 5 Stars, but everyone can do better, Right?
Brought a new asus lga 1155 motherboard from this company a while ago, only got round to using it over Christmas, turned out to have a bios issue, (or so I thought) they agreed to take it back and do some tests on it. Tests come back all clear and turns out it was a processor problem that I had overlooked. The board was sent back to me in perfect working order complete with one of their test processors, which wasn't charged for just to show me that it was all working fine. All this time they were in contact with me via email and phone and they did everything to sort the problem out. The customer service that I received was absolutely brilliant and I can't fault it at all. I will add though that it's a shame the phone number is a premium line which I'm sure does cost this company some custom.
I was attempting to query the condition and availability of two items in their stock via email and due to the nature of my needs, being time critical and not willing to phone a premium telephone number, I decided I couldn't wait for a reply beyond the forth working day.
Awesome support from these guys. They never gave up and helped my on the phone, exchanged parts, tested whole set-ups before despatch and carried on helping until I had a working PC again. Really knowledgable tech team as well as the sales team. Can't fault them and would highly recommend them to anyone who has PC problems and needs parts even for older PCs.
I found the company via Amazon but needed to check something first. When I explained the fault, they advised they didn't think it was the part I was ordering. They told me what it could be and cancelled the order as unless I struck lucky with one of the potential fixes, the other solutions were uneconomic given the age of the device. One of the suggestions did fix the problem. In helping this way they talked themselves out of selling a part but did sell themselves as to the place I will go to next time. A refreshing change these days. Thank you PC Upgrade.
Outstanding service, Leo and Stu were a unreal help. 100% would use again.
This is a great company, it's excellent they are around to help the older Mac Pro users with spare parts, my 2009 had a issue with the video card, I wasn't quite sure of the exact card I needed, but with a few targetted question from the team the right item was on its way to me the same afternoon and arived the next day. Excellent service.
Company will Take payment twice and send Faulty motherboard's not fully tested. The replacement procedure was charge you for the replacement on top of the faulty one.... buyer Beware will Store all your Card details After transaction is complete and can dip in to your account as they please, Fraud case now open.
Excellent service Spoke with Leo who was very knowledgeable and was able to advise me on the best replacement motherboard for my memory and cpu combo. Arrived quickly and installed without problems, all in all a trouble free experience
My old ASUS motherboard had exploded this summer (oh, the heat!) and of course you couldn't buy it anymore. PCUpgrade identified a compatible ASRock board for me and gave me lots of sound advice over the phone about carrying out the replacement (thanks Leo!). Quick delivery with no issues whatsoever. Have built many PCs before (old dog, which is why I knew all their advice was sound). Would heartily recommend them to all.
Pleased to have dealt with such a great company who really know what they are talking about and don't just sell hardware for the sake of making a quick buck. They replaced my Graphic card and motherboard and my system is now perfect. thank you for your time and help Happy Customer
