PCUPGRADE - Direct Distributor of Modern and Legacy PC Components
Honest and Knowledgeable about what they do, when my graphics card died a death they help me sort out a brilliant upgrade for a replacement that same day
I was really reluctant to buy from them as they don't offer paypal payment and I'd never heard of them. But I needed a motherboard. They listed loads of Z97 motherboards on thier website but after a premium rate phone call to thier 0844 number (cost me over £5) it turned out of the 30+ they list, they only actually had 4! I was given a feeble excuse that a dealer had just bought a job lot of thier stock (a dealer?). Another premium rate call narrowed the choice down to one, I was warned it didn't have the io backplate, I had no choice but to accept that. I paid a premium price and the board arrived next day, the box was battered and bore a completely different serial number to the board it contained, on inspection I noted scoring on the screw holes suggesting it had previously been installed. On assembling the PC all worked but ran very hot, after some investigation I found odd settings in the bios again suggesting that I was not the first user. Long story short I couldn't get it to post after this so returned it, they argued a lot about a refund but I insisted. My assessment this was a second user board sold as new at a premium price by a company operating out of a storage unit using a premium rare number for customer contact. Dodgy website poor service bad product.
I had reason to believe my motherboard had packed up. I wanted to replace it with a replica, hoping to minimise any downstream hassles. I found one on PCUpgrade and ordered it. Leo phoned the next day to say there was a problem with supply of that board (the system was discontinued about 5 years ago), and recommended an alternative. I explained my problem. He understood and recommended an alternative. I was assured by his knowledge, and his recommended board was delivered as promised, and worked perfectly. Next time, I'll phone them first and talk through what I should do, rather than guess and then ask them to fix it. My only beef would be their off-tariff phone number, but maybe you just have to factor that into the cost. Would I use them again? - certainly.
I needed a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3 quickly to replace the faulty mother board in my folks desktop, as I was only visiting them for a few days. Leo was most helpful, as indeed were his colleagues, in locating a similar (in fact, better spec) board & getting it to me within a day. Previously I had difficulty in even locating such a board, as they were out of production, but within a couple of days, my folks were up and running, giving them & myself peace of mind. Great follow up Leo, thank you for getting me out of a hole!!
Needed a board in Matx 1150 to get up and running fast, called pcupgrade they had exactly what i was looking for z87 extreme4 not only where the support staff very helpful, They installed and tested all my components and got the system back up and running at no charge. Just found my new favourite PC hardware company!! thank you guys
STAY AWAY from that bunch of cowboys. Paid for PC part witch was on stock. Wait few days, no any contact from hem. After I called them they trying to charge me more, saying that it is out of stock and new stock will be more expensive. Don`t waste you time and money, and use someone else decent service.
I would recommend this company to anyone needing PC parts.I spoke to Stu regarding a replacement motherboard,he enquired about the problem which I explained to him.He gave me advice on how to try and recover bios, and it worked. Respect to Stu for not just selling me a motherboard and not just taking my money.I will certainly be using Pcupgrade in the future and will be recommending it to friends and family.
I was looking for specific drive models (there was a strict list of compatible drives that would work with my RAID array). I added notes on the order to say that I was looking for a matching pair of this exact specification. Their website was the only one that showed this particular model, but you expect suppliers to just bait and switch to fulfill orders - but not PCUpgrades! They actually read the notes, understood what I wanted, and interrogated their supply chain to ensure that they got two identical drives of the same model number and revision etc. The called me ahead of Christmas to let me know they were on it but there'd be a slight delay as they wanted to make sure they got the correct drives. It was Christmas and I wasn't in a great hurry, but this level of service and the fact they picked up the phone really made the experience excellent from the 'box shifters' out there! Sure enough, the drives arrived when they said, really quickly and their communication throughout was second to none (I enquired what had happened to my order just after Christmas, just to touch base, and they informed me that the items had JUST been delivered c/o my neighbour (as requested) and even gave me the house number of the neighbour - so despite me calling from work, they were able to say specifically what was going on with my order!) I've honestly not met service like this in a long while. They have made communication and honesty and integrity core to my experience and whole-heartedly recommend them. I'll be looking here first in the future - the prices and level of service are amazing. Thank you so much.
1) I received excellent service from Leo, I purchased an end of line replacement motherboard and thermal paste and items arrived exactly as expected, m/b works fine and with latest BIOS, arrived 8 days ago. 2) PCUpgrade website is badly out of date, the stock showing has no relation on stock they have. To avoid frustration I suggest phoning first before placing an order online.
I contacted Stu at PC Upgrade at the beginning of the year because I had a system issue. Even though I wasn't going to buy anything but just wanted some advice, he expertly helped me to understand the problem and explained how I could try to sort it. I kept putting it off and eventually I decided that I would just send the PC to him. I came to the conclusion that I would rather buy a new system. Stu guided me through the whole process expertly and honestly, letting me know exactly what I needed and, most importantly, what I didn't need. He was thorough, considerate and expert in his approach, and he filled me with confidence that I was being well looked after and getting excellent customer service. Stu went over and beyond the call of duty to help me in many ways, including helping me to sell my old system. The PC has been in my possession for about a month now and I have to say I am extremely satisfied. As such, I will not hesitate to recommend PC Upgrade to anyone, and Stu in particular. I know where I will be doing my PC hardware shopping from now on. Many thanks Stu; a credit to the company.
Ordered a motherboard, they phoned next day to say they didn't have it but offered a more expensive replacement. Foolishly I accepted it and it came without any handbook and no clear indication of what model it was, despite searching for info on the mobo itself. Emailed them twice for information and they never even bothered replying. Would strongly advise against using them, now left with a motherboard I cannot use or sell. Update to this, phone call the day after I posted this followed by an email giving the information I needed. They said they had never received my emails, I did not get a bounce back to say undelivered though. Trust Pilot certainly works well and PCUpgrade care about what reviewers say
Very helpful! I had a motherboard problem, they tested it and gave excellent advice on way forward. So refreshing to find a firm that takes time to explain the options. They will be building my next PC.
The service and advice was brilliant. They could have easily sold me more than I actually needed but helped me ensure my real needs were met. Their communication was first class simply to understand and prompt responses. Their man Stu was a god send and nothing was too much effort.
I paid over £10 for next day delivery. The order took 3 working days to finally arrive and I noted PC Upgrade had only paid for a 2 to 3 working day postal service delivery. I contacted pcupgrade on several occasions about this to get refunded the cost of the next day delivery service and they have constantly failed to even respond to me
I contacted PCUpgrade about a replacement motherboard and cpu. With help and guidance from Stu he worked out that I actually needed a better graphics card as the CPU was still okay. Through this advice I was able to save over £100 that I could of wasted on buying the wrong components. I strongly recommend speaking to PCUpgrade before considering upgrading your PC. They may not be the cheapest out there but their advice is priceless and saves you buying the wrong thing
I purchased an Intel processor that came with a cooler. A few days later I got a package from a company I'd never heard of and inside was a cooler. There was no indication why this company had sent me it so I ended up calling them and being told that the part had been ordered by PCUpgrade. So it looks like they use a 3rd party company for some components, which would be fine if they told you :-/ Anyway, the screws in the cooler (Arctic 11 Pro) were so tight that it was impossible to remove them manually - I'm guessing they were constructed using automation and, in this case, were put in way too tight. In the process of trying to get the screws out in order to fit the fan, one of the screws was damaged - if they're put in that tight you might think they'd be better quality screws! I contacted Arctic and, over several emails, they said "Maybe there are mistakes from the production. In this case we will take care the warranty.", and "If you are still not able to loosen the screw, you may return it to the seller for replacement unit under their policy.". So I contacted PCUPgrade and was told to forward on the email to them, which I did on 04 January 2017. I subsequently called them to ask on progress and was told that their distributor wouldn't replace it without an RMA from Arctic, but that the issue was being processed. I still haven't heard anything from them 2 months later! I also realise that my contract of sale is with them, NOT their distributor, so I emailed them on 23 February saying this and requesting they send me a replacement cooler - I've heard nothing!! For the price of a very cheap cooler they've lost a customer who spends a LOT on PC components - more fool them! I do wonder if companies know that research has shown that the average dis-satisfied customer tells 24 other people about their dis-satisfaction!
I bought a Motherboard from PCUpgrade and thought the service I received from Leo was amazing. He checked very carefully to see that I was buying the correct one for my (4 year-old) PC and then rang the man who is repairing my PC to tell him what he will need to do then rang me back to confirm everything. The following day he rang to tell me that the courier had delivered the package to the repairer and to give me the tracking number. Fantastic service. Thank you indeed.
Ordered a motherboard which was being obseleted. Leo called to advise and offered an array of suitable alternatives to the set up I was building. Top knowledge and friendly advice. Very happy with purchase.
I had this hair-brained scheme to sli my existing ASUS geforce gtx660 Oc card to save cash and after searching the internet found one on their site. I rang up to check stock and recieved good customer service, during which I mentioned my plan and discussed how god-dam hard it had been to find another of these cards. After paying with paypal, I recieved a phone call from them from Stu, (who had overheard/discussed with his colleague,) who politely informed me, in detail, of the error of my ways and how i would be better off buying a new card for the money i was paying. Let me make this point clear - they already had my money, or as good as, and could quite easily have laughed all the way to the bank, yet they took the time to contact me and talk through what i could get that would provide better performance for the same money. This fountain of knowledge talked through my options, answered my queries on future proofing, ensured compatiblilty with my rig, his love of doom, and mentioned how to get the best out of my new choice (which I researched on t'internet during this discussion.) From now on I will always use them and recommend to my friends.

Jul 13,2018Their support expert Stu worked hard to ensure I got the correct replacement SuperDrive for my 9-yo Mac Pro when no-one else seemed to be able to supply. I am very happy with the advice, the delivery, the price and the result! Many thanks..
