WORST COMPANY EVER, THEY SHOULD LOSE THEY LICENSE, NOT BE LISTED COMPANY AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF DESTROYING ITEMS (THEY HIRED EXTERNAL COMPANY TO MOVE ITEMS FROM 1 UNIT TO ANOTHER UNIT AND NOW ITEMS WORTH OF £15K IS DESTROYED AND THEY DENY EVERYTHING, EVEN WHEN WHEN THEY WERE THERE). Safestore Croydon is the first storage place I have used where people really care about you as a person. Debra has been amazingly helpful to me over the years and that makes such a difference! STAY AWAY! False advertisement from the company! I used this company under the terms that unused time would be refunded. I unfortunately had a fire and was placed in temporary accommodation with no definite moving date. The company then changed their policy and have refused refund. I didn’t receive the email for the change of policy or I would’ve removed my belongings and used a different company. I wont be using them again and definitely won’t be recommending them to anyone. The staff onsite were lovely and even said that they think the policy change should have only been for new customers however the people above them obviously dont care about their employees opinions or their existing customers.

Received an invoice after the fixed term contract ended. Contacted safe store and the are still insisting i pay it even though i vacated the room 5 days before the end of the contract and informed them i was not re-newing the contract in Feb
STAY AWAY! ABSOLUTE SCAM! When we signed up in the agreement it was said if we gave 2 weeks notice, we would get the remainder of the months money back that we hadn’t used-so this is what we did and after we moved our stuff in having made the agreement safestore decided to change their policy weeks after and now refuse to refund the money even though we are no longer using the unit and having to pay for the remainder of the month- DONT USE STAY AWAY!
I first started the unit last year and ever since then I have nothing but trouble with them it feels like the give you fault promises all they care about is getting their money it feel like they don't look after their customers. The lady who left was rude and did not care and then tried to get this sorted out with higher management and again was not listen to. When the contract ends I wont renew and will be looking else where.
Have been charged an extra £270 due to the new terms and conditions (amended Feb 25) regarding Termination on a rolling contract. Even though I am moving out at the start of April, Safestore are charging me until mid May. It’s very difficult to keep track of invoices etc as they charge every 4 weeks so it’s easy to be caught out. I am paying for over a month for an empty room due to the timing of my notice. Please be wary of the small print as there is considerable inflexibility. I will be complaining to their head office but fear it will be ignored. The official termination email from head office even indicated I would have to pay until mid May but vacate by the 11th of April. This was only cleared as incorrect by the local storage location! I don’t think I’ve every been expected to pay rent at a place I am not even using before. I have been there for over a year and it wasn’t cheap after 6 months. Ignore the AI generated reply. Did contact the email you see on these responses but they just reiterated the terms and conditions and were inflexible. Basically the 14 days notice doesnt mean you pay for 14 more days, it could be up to 40 days as it is with my case!

Apr 08,2025LOYAL CUSTOMER PAYING ALMOST DOUBLE I have had a storage space with Safe Store since November 2022 75 sq ft originally priced at £444 It then went up to £536 in 2023 and then £599 the following year .. Having checked online on the Safe Store website today the same size space in the same storage unit is being quoted at £327.56. So it appears that the longer you stay in their storage unity the higher the price they charge you .. So instead of paying £3930.72 for 12 months as quoted on their website for our loyalty we are given the privilege of paying £7188 - £3258 more than a new customer. I would like to know why we were being asked to pay almost double what a new customer would be paying. Beware anyone using this storage beyond the first year. I would like an explanation from the management as to why we have been treated like this and how they reward customers that stay with them .. Annabel Karmel MBE
