Fantastic experience in Portugal at an animal sanctuary for two weeks! I will definitely travel with TMR again and probably return to this sanctuary where I really enjoyed taking care of the animals and seeing all the work of SOS Animal Portugal!
I really appreciated The Mighty Roar. It was amazing staff they are very helpful, to arranged everything. The dorm were comfy , it was fantastic stay and i can highly recommend !!!!
I spent 5 weeks on the medical programme in Jaipur and went on the Golden Triangle trip which was amazing. I was given the opportunity to be involved with the teaching programme and support the local orphanage. Peeyush, Kapil and Jay were so friendly, helped with everything I needed, and made me feel at home in India.
I had a fantastic time volunteering with the turtles and then on the travel experience. Karu was a brilliant guide, everything was so well organised, full of amazing activities and I had so much fun!
My time in Tanzania was something I’ll remember for the rest of my life! The amazing staff at our accommodation made it feel like such a home and one big family :) I did both weekend trips that were offered, the Safari and Zanzibar, and they turned out to be some of my favourite days on the trip. Moshi is such a special place with happy and kind people, I will definitely be returning very soon!
The company made my first time travelling alone feel amazing, I did4 weeks out in Sri Lanka and in that time I volunteered with the turtle, visited the Maldives and travelled around Sri Lanka seeing its beauty. My highlights have to be Karu and his family being so welcoming and kind, they were always there to help no matter the request. Meeting people was easy and I’ve felt like I’ve made some friends for life and had the chance to experience Sri Lanka with them through the mighty roar! If you are thinking about doing this I suggest you do! Only downside was the 10pm curfew
I spent 4 weeks on the medical elective in Sri Lanka. Overall I really enjoyed my time here. Having the afternoons and weekends off was great and allowed us to see more of Sri Lanka. In terms of the placement, it wasn’t always the best with some wards being more receptive to students than others but I think I still observed what the hospitals were like and I learnt a lot from it. The accommodation was basic but clean and there wasn’t loads of space in the rooms for your bags but it worked okay. The team are all lovely and willing to help with a lot!
I highly recommend The Mighty Roar’s volunteer and travel experience in Sri Lanka! I worked on the turtle volunteer project, where I learned so much and was lucky enough to release brand new hatchlings on my first night working! The team welcomes you into their lovely family and provides so many fun things to do during your stay at the accommodation. I met a lovely group of people volunteering and had the best time seeing the rest of the country on the travel part of my trip. Highlights were seeing the elephants on the safari, going whale watching, experiencing lots of Sri Lankan traditions, and seeing the beautiful diverse views!
Great placement. Good flexibility. Only downside was that I was in a hospital where there were no departments I was interested in, everything else was good!
I was in Vietnam. Placement was great and I liked that there was flexibility to explore Vietnam. It’s a shame we only 4 departments to choose from. I think the accom was great however air condition in the communal areas would help with socialising and would make meal times more pleasant.
I spent six weeks in Sri Lanka starting off with the travel experience which i can thoroughly recommend. It was very well organised and an amazing experience. The team in Sri Lanka are so lovely and always on hand to sort any problems that may arise and can also help with arranging transport when needed. i volunteered with turtles to start with and also the childcare, again both really enjoyable and organised. The maldives trip was fantastic and i can thoroughly recommend swimming with sharks through Shadow Palm. There are lots of cats and dogs at the accommodation which i enjoyed spending time with. Three meals are provided each day buffet style so you can choose what you fancy, vegans and vegetarians were very well catered for. Thanks Mighty Roar and all the team in Sri Lanka for a fantastic experience.
Had a great time in Amakhala, I have enjoyed it a lot. The people were amaizing, the accomodation had some pros and cons, but it did left me with feeling I have experienced the Africa in exact way I wanted to. Nigh stay in luxurious lodge was a definite bonus. I definitely recommend it to any adventure soul.
I will miss and remember this trip to Busua forever. I spent a month in Ghana and can honestly say it was the best trip I have ever been on. I was surrounded by not only lovely volunteers but amazing local people who welcomed us with open arms. The childcare programme was nothing but lovely and eye opening and I will remember it always. I couldn’t recommend the trip to Busua more, and Dinah was nothing but kind and helpful in every way. I will be back I hope!!!
Very nice experience, Ayomi and the team were very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend to anyone thinking of going.
I had the most amazing time in Thailand, met incredible animals and people, made friends that I will never forget!! Seriously considering going back next year!! 100% would recommend to anyone! Thank you :)
the host emmanuel maro has been an amazing help and extremely accomodating to all our concerns and had always went above and beyond what is needed👍, the hostel staff is extremely friendly and provides excellent service!
I joined TMR in Sri Lanka for 8 weeks on the medical programme. I had a brilliant time. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. They helped arranged activities for us to do in the afternoon. They also made sure we had everything we needed such as access to a fridge, snacks and teas/coffee. The medical programme was exactly as it stated in the handbook and well organised. They also allow you to travel further afield on the weekends so you can see more of Sri Lanka. I also did the cultural triangle trip- the safari on that was amazing. Definitely my favourite experience here! The food provided was delicious. We had a range of Sri Lankan food every day in buffet style. It was really good to try a wide range of food. They are also very accommodating to dietary needs. The dorms themselves were also very comfy! I had a brilliant stay and would definitely recommend!
The local team in Kenya was incredibly nice. So welcoming, informative and helpful with every bit of the experience, ensuring all volunteers including myself were satisfied. If one thing I could suggest that needs to be improved is communication in advance of the journey, particularly if there are certain things to be aware of. TMR was very responsive to questions and emails and supportive with the whole process and whilst the volunteer handbook was incredibly useful and detailed, I had to find out myself that the week I had booked for the experience was within a school holiday week which meant I would not be able to help out and teach in the classrooms, which is what I had signed up for - I think this is something to be made aware of when booking the experience and not just finding out 1-2 weeks before the journey. However the team in Kenya were very understanding and ensured my journey was not in any way compromised and that I was able to achieve what I wanted and equally contribute to something meaningful. Either way the experience has been incredibly memorable and I hope to be able to return to Kenya someday soon to see once again some of the amazing people I had the opportunity to meet there through this programme.
Really enjoyed my stay at TMR. Stayed here for 8 weeks as part of my medical elective. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is amazing! Beds are so comfy and rooms are clean. Medical program is only 3 hours a day and the rest is up to you to go to beach etc. really easy to get to the nearby town and cheap to get around.

May 30,2024Ayomi and her family are excellent hosts, very kind and always available for any questions. The accommodation was clean with good AC. I did the medical programme. The hospital transport was very efficient and well organised. The placements themselves were sometimes overcrowded with other medical students from similar companies. The placements are purely observational with little to no opportunity to get involved. The main reason for 3 stars is the food. Most meals didn’t include all the food groups, some only supplied carbs like rice and potato with no protein whatsoever. It’s slightly demoralising having to eat this for 4 weeks, especially as we’ve had such good simple Sri Lankan food elsewhere.
