The people made this experience very enjoyable. The only bad thing is that the food is a bit to spicy on some days. Aside from that it was a great experience and I would recommend it to everybody

I was with the mighty roar for 2 weeks. My first week was amazing as I was doing sea turtle conservation and felt so lucky so work so closely with turtles and do the beach cleans. I also did the child care which was chaotic but nevertheless amazing. The second week I was doing the travel and experience which was amazing and I really enjoyed it. I would just say that sometimes it felt like we were moving too much and didn’t get a chance to relax and take in the surroundings. However I still had an amazing time.

We had such a lovely time during our 2 weeks with the Mighty Roar in Sri Lanka. Our host, Ayomi, was exceptionally kind, always making sure that our needs were satisfied and organising countless activities to keep us occupied in-between volunteering. We spent 1 week volunteering and 1 week travelling with the Mighty Roar. For the price, the travel experience was very good value as we were able to see so many places, staying in nice accommodation and having great food! I definitely recommend the Mighty Roar to anyone of any age, background, country etc as our large group was very diverse and everyone loved it! Thank you TMR!

Me and my friends used the mighty roar to complete our elective placement for our nursing studies. It was such an amazing experience and we learnt so much that we can take onboard for our future studies. The company was really helpful at organising excursions and made it cheaper for us to see more things whilst we were out there. The food was very repetitive but otherwise very tasty! We really enjoyed our experience with the team!

My volunteering experience was with rescue paws in Thailand helping trying to cut down the amount of street dogs that were in the area, everyone was so helpful and always made sure you were enjoying the experience. All the volunteers were lovely and the area was great with the volunteer house being right by the beach. I would 100% recommend anyone to go volunteer with rescue paws it was one of the best experiences and definitely unforgettable

This was my first ever time volunteering abroad so I was very nervous about what to expect. I am so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone because the memories I made in the last three weeks will last a lifetime. I came to Sri Lanka with my partner and we were both welcomed with open arms by the TMR community in Akurala. We also made friends almost instantly with the other volunteers, who became like family towards the end. The TMR host family in Sri Lanka were amazing at helping me and my partner to experience the true Sri Lankan lifestyle. In addition to the planned activities outside of volunteering such as the weekend trips, kayaking, football, yoga, meditation, surfing and cricket, we took part in additional activities such as cooking with the aunty, catching fish for everyone to share at dinner, gardening, climbing Adam’s Peak during the pilgrimage season and a small boat safari to see the fruit bats. Our food was kindly prepared daily for us at TMR and tasted delicious. We took part in the sea turtle conservation project in Sri Lanka which was run amazingly with a really informative and helpful leader, Mammu. Our main duties involved participating in group beach cleans, evening beach patrols, hatchery watching, eco brick making, recording information on turtle sightings and hatching and releasing baby turtles into the sea. I also got to participate in the teaching programme during my stay which was also a very rewarding experience. A huge thankyou to Ayomi, Thaksala, Neranjan, Mammu and the rest of the TMR community for this truly unforgettable experience.

I loved the immersive culture at the mighty roar. The staff and family are very welcoming which made it very easy to settle into Sri Lankan life. They provided fantastic recommendations for local activities and cuisine and were always open to arranging activities for us. I throughly enjoyed the local food and experiencing new foods and flavours. Most of all the strangers you meet become your family and I’m sure I will see most of them when we are all home in the UK.

Just returned from Sri Lanka after having a fantastic time doing turtle conservation with a chance to participate in some of the other volunteer projects. Hard work but rewarding with plenty of time to enjoy other projects. Accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable. Food was good so much so I watched “auntie” in the kitchen to get a few tips and I never felt I was in the way. Nothing was too much trouble for Ayomi, Mamoo and Tasci (hope I have spelt that correctly) - trips to waterfalls, boat trips watching the sunset in some fantastic places. It was lovely to live and work with such a wide background and age range of people - you’re never too old! Overall a fantastic experience looked after by fantastic people 💕

I had an amazing experience volunteering with the Mighty Roar at Amakhala Game Reserve. Nicky and her team went out of their way to give us an incredible experience and see and do so much. Saw so many animals up close and far exceeded my expectations. Thank you all! 😀

I would highly recommend The Mighty Roar for volunteering experiences. I spent 2 weeks in Tanzania for my elective placement. I felt supported throughout my whole journey and was made to feel very welcome in Tanzania. The staff at the accommodation were friendly and approachable, nothing was too big of an ask. The whole experience was incredible! Fantastic learning opportunities and the chance for extra activities once there too!

I've seen turtles make their way from the ocean under the moonlight to makebtheir nests and lay their eggs. I've watched hatchlings make their way back to the ocean. What a rewarding experience. I've joined the group for beach clean ups. Removing plastic bags and other rubbish to make the ocean safer for sea turtles. I've made good friends while I've been on the project. Special mention for the staff. Very friendly. Always smiling. Aways willing to help.
