As a parent, the Mighty Roar was everything one could have hoped for: everybody was very friendly and helpful before the trip, during the trip and afterwards too. Our daughter had a phenomenal experience staying in Moshi teaching and we felt she was very safe and well looked after. We could not have asked for more and would warmly recommend the Mighty Roar to other parents!
I had a very good experience volunteering, people were friendly and always offering help when asked. Work experience itself was rewarding and eye opening. My only constructive criticism would be that it was a little bit unclear as to what I would be doing and how the volunteer system worked at the outset. If a little more clarity is provided when you land that would be very helpful. Overall a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend and happily repeat.
Was amazing definitely be back you get so much free time during the day so got so much opportunity to do what you need to do there’s loads of cycling but if I can do it so can you
The mighty roar was excellent in organising and supporting me on the trip. I found the wildlife work challenging but really enjoyed the elephants. I would recommend it
I stayed at the mighty roar for 1 month in Moshi and had the best time! The staff are amazing and will help you with anything you need. The hostel organised great weekend trips to waterfalls, safaris and they also organised me and my friend to climb Kilimanjaro last minute. The food and accommodations are nice but not luxurious! The hospital placement I did was okay, didn’t have loads of opportunities to get involved but still learnt bits and was valuable experience. Overall we had a great month!
Having spent a week at Comfy Stay as a teaching volunteer the staff could not have been more helpful. The place was clean and tidy also food was very good. They go out of their way to help you in every way possible. Wish I was there for at least another week!
I had the most amazing experience with The Mighty Roar in Sri Lanka! The staff go above and beyond for all of the volunteers and treat us all as a family. I was able to do the medical and childcare programmes, whilst also being able to help with the dog feeding and releasing the turtles during my free time. The food was traditional, which allowed us to be immersed in the culture, whilst also taking trips to other parts of the island as a group when possible. For example, going up a waterfall on our first day and being able to visit a Buddhist temple in the village. I would highly record this experience for those wanting to have both a volunteer experience, but also one of travelling and exploring the surrounding area. Be prepared to embrace the culture and experience every situation that comes your way.
Such a worthwhile experience, a lovely atmosphere and very easy to make friends. All of the staff members were really helpful and available all the time- Ayomi, Karu and Thaksi were a huge help throughout the whole experience. Highly recommend!
I spent a week at the North Bali Reef Conservation project. Sukma, Nova, Danda and Gio were lovely and always helpful, the project is an amazing opportunity to work with locals on reconstucting the damaged coral reef. Tianyar is located in the less touristy side of the island so if you are more into getting to know a more authentic Bali then you'll enjoy your time there even more.
I spent a month teaching in Sri Lanka and had a wonderful time. Teaching was more rewarding than I could have imagined, the children were all such angels, as was the teacher, who it was a pleasure to meet. The accommodation felt very secure, all the staff and family were lovely. There were a few instances where I did feel very unsafe but Ayomi and her family were very reassuring and kind. Maldives trip and travel week were both incredible and very good value for money. Really recommend to anyone.
I absolutely loved it! I felt safe and cared for by amazing people :) Dinah was incredible and even sorted out medication for me when I needed it. Laurel was lovely, John was a brilliant driver and Michael made me laugh like I haven’t in a long time. The locals are so kind and accommodating. I was on both the teaching and the midwifery programmes and enjoyed them both equally. You just have to throw yourself in! I lead a class 50 and ended the month delivering a placenta! The only improvement that I would make is to be made aware of when the children are on holiday or doing their exams. This critically information for that programme as will affect your trip.
I had an amazing 3 weeks volunteering in Sri Lanka. Everybody at TMR was extremely welcoming, helpful, and supportive. The accommodation was good, with rooms of up to 8, sharing an ensuite bathroom, all meals were provided throughout the week, and transport to and from volunteering was organised. The location of the accommodation is great, just across the road from a lovely beach, and only a 10-15 minute tuk-tuk ride from Hikkaduwa, where you can find many shops, cafes, and restaurants. There was an opportunity to take part in additional activities, organised by the local team, as well as some weekend trips. All in all, I had a lovely time, met some amazing people, and made memories that will last me a lifetime. I would highly recommend The Mighty Roar for anyone wanting to volunteer in Sri Lanka. Huge thank you to Ayomi, Thaksi, Chris, and the whole local team!!
Amazing experience at tmr sri lanka, where i stayed for 4 weeks. The accommodation has everything you need and the staff are all so lovely. The volunteering was a great experience and also a good way to meet people. I highly recommend it.
Really good experience over the two weeks I was at The Mighty Roar in Sri Lanka. I particularly enjoyed the weekend trip to the Cultural Triangle which was very well organised and covered a lot. Ayomi and the team are really helpful and are proactive at dealing with any issues.
I had a wonderful time in Sri Lanka. The staff were lovely and helped me with anything I needed. They made me feel at home and I met some lovely people along the way!
Slightly more pricey compared to other companies but worth it for the experience provided. Staff made everybody feel welcome, encouraged us to experience local culture and provided opportunities to do so, and were always happy to sort a problem, help plan a trip or suggest ideas for places to travel to. The team do a great job at providing a variety of foods, ensuring our projects are going smoothly and planning and booking activities. Had a great time here in india & has been great to settle into the indian lifestyle before travelling more of the country. Thank you TMR
The staff here go above and beyond to cater for you at the mighty roar. I stayed here for 4 weeks and the beds are super comfy, they already have mosquito nets and they have lockers to store your things. The food is lovely and they cater to most dietary needs. There’s lots of fun activities to do as a group and you are opposite the coast so there’s lots of time to swim in the sea! It’s 10 mins away from the local town where there’s a lot to do! I’ve really enjoyed my stay here - I would recommend to bring a book and some cards for rainy days though! I also really enjoyed both of the Sri Lanka weekend trips! Special thanks to Ayomi, Thaksi, Chris!
Everyone at TMR is brilliant they take really good care of you and ensure you have a wonderful time! Doing the turtle conservation and seeing what we're doing making a difference is amazing, I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in animals or conservation. I have made a lot of new friends along the way as well which has made the experience even better :)
Extremely organised and reasonable pricing. They plan the whole itinerary for you so your stress free. The team are great and super helpful, also I must mention our private driver DeWa - he was absolutely amazing !!
