Always use zest for car hire due to the piece of mind that they are always on the end of the phone and happy to sort any issues out, rather that personally having to deal with awkward hire company’s. They also seem to find very good rental prices and all insurances are included so the cost doesn’t mount up.
Great prices, no hidden extras and amazing customer support when I had to claim under their excess accident insurance. How could it be better?
Transparent and price competitive. They offer a “guaranteed (car) model” option for some locations. Friendly and responsive when I ask for further clarifications.

Car hire at tourist airports in Spain often comes with traps for the unwary. I booked through Zest, a UK car hire broker, and found no tricks. Fair dealing - who would have thought? Will get my business again.
I have used Zest or Economy Car Hire as they used to be known, for many years and have always had the best booking experience with them. Also, they have come to the rescue when some car hire companies have been less than fair. I always check with Zest first for car hire in Europe. Clear pricing and good cover plus excellent customer service.
Very disappointed. The service was great but after sales very poor. Zest used Drive On in Faro - they charged me €70 for tolls that may be charged to the car after I left. I was skeptical about this and rightly so - the €70 less €2.70 has not been returned to me three months later. My trip was in September! I have asked many times and keep getting nice replies but no action. In my view this is very dishonest - to hold funds like this and to not deal with the matter honestly and expediently. Surely there is an obligation on the holder of deposits to return them - without any hassle or being chased and on time?? Update - apparently they do not release your deposit of €70 until they have processed and charged you for the toll (which I could not pay at the time) It’s more than convenient that this takes 3 months to process - how many customers will remember they are owed this? Who retains all the unreturned deposits? Or is this a once off - doesn’t seem like it!! Update 12/12 - despite all of the efforts and my time and assurances and skidding around the matter etc below, my refunded ‘deposit’ is still not in my account. How can this be legitimate financial practice anywhere and in the UK?? Pls resolve.
Great service for car hire. Helped sort out an issue with a refund for a satnav that didn’t work. Company in question weren’t responding to my emails until Zest followed issue up.
We had no waiting at Faro airport. The Masterkings representative was waiting for us and dealt with us in a friendly and efficient way. The car was immaculate (nearly new)and very suitable for our needs. There were four of us plus golf clubs and suitcases. When we returned the car, we were met straight away and the whole process only took a few minutes.
Have used this company for a good few years. Excellent customer service and fair price. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Thankyou
Vehicle was clean, current and in good shape. Staff were friendly and accommodating with excellent English skills. Paperwork arrived by email well in advance with appropriate instructions and what to expect. We are repeat customers. Airport pickup shuttle in Lisbon a bit difficult to sort location.
Generally a good company and the best of the third party providers. However, avoid booking Alamo in Europe through Zest as you will end up with a local company acting as an ‘independent franchise’. In effect, all you get is the Alamo name for an inflated price. In my opinion Zest is misleading customers by not making this clear at point of booking and should not offer Alamo in Europe. On this occasion (booking from Rome airport) Zest declined my request for a partial refund. Note also that zero excess insurance doesn’t cover windscreen, wheels, underside so you will still need top up insurance if you want to be fully covered. On the plus side I have found it easy in the past to make changes to bookings and Zest is willing to engage if there are issues. In future I will try to cut out the middleman and book direct.
Having used Zest for some years I can confirm their level of service is always excellent. I recommend them to my own Villa rental customers.
I have used a number of car rentals companies in the past and never really been satisfied. Zest were excellent in all they did - booking, during the hire and follow up. Just the right amount of communication throughout unlike some companies that continually bombard you with emails! Not least, they were also very competitive price wise. Would only use them in the future and can recommend them without hesitation. Thank you.
I have used this company many times in fact wouldn’t use any other company when travelling anywhere from Malaga Airport onwards, fantastic service on site pick up and drop off which is excellent and the representative from the company is always polite always on time, but definitely recommend
Was a lovely surprise o be greeted with the car at the airport rather than having a transfer to pick it up. They also gave us an upgrade free of charge. The service was easy to use and left me feeling confident I had chose wisely. Will defo use them again without hesitation.

Avoid!! Trust this Uk company when I was planning my trip in Faro Portugal; then they assigned the car hire via Drive4fun. They tried to scam your €500 Euro , but you have to pay for it first on credit card to see if you have that much money to charge if anything goes wrong . After returning the car , they checked the car with you , no damages they let you go without signing anything. After two months , their company tried to proceed a transaction but luckily my Revolute card sent me an alert. (Happy to upload photos as a proof) You are bunch of evil corporation tried to scam travelers money. How can your company protect your valuable customers !? You should cut the partnership with Drive4fun to make your company more trust worthy .
