Avis Car Hire offers a premium car rental experience in Ireland, with locations in Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Galway, Knock, Belfast, and Derry.
Excellent service and car everything went smoothly the only gripe we have is with shuttle buses very difficult to get 20kg case onto bus with no help from driver who sat and watched us otherwise all was great especially staff at desks and returns all very friendly fast and professional
Quick and friendly pick up at Dublin Airport Our car was a Nissan Quasqai and a great drive, loads of room and great boot space. Price was great and comparable to using public transport but having the freedom of doing everything in our own time. Will definitely use again.
Rented 3 cars almost 2 months ago. Last week they finally released ONE of the three deposits made. Still waiting for the other two.
Fast, efficient and friendly service both at pick up and drop of. Car in excellent condition and spotlessly clean
We cannot recommend Avis Dublin for car rentals. We had an automatic passenger van reserved, when we got there, they tried to switch it with a manual sedan. (They tried the same switch with two other families with whom we travelled). We told the representative that they had the wrong car for us, so they switched it with a manual van. Said there were no automatics available - even though we had one on reserve, according to the phone rep. The car had bad tires, the tire indicator was constantly going off. We had to take time from our vacation to get the pressure checked & were told the tires were all in bad repair. On day 6 of our vacation, we got a flat tire. Had to take another 2 hours from our time to have it repaired. We were told by an Avis representative that if we paid it up front and brought the receipt in, they would reimburse us. They now refuse to reimburse us the $190 for the tire repair. On top of that, the washer fluid tank was empty, which shows that they don't even do the most basic of maintenance on their vehicles. We will never use Avis/Budget for rentals again, and we recommend that anyone considering renting a car from them, look further for an agency that maintains their vehciles properly and won't try to cheat their customers.
I rented a car from Shannon airport. The car broke down at night on a rural highway. I'm fine with that I know cars break down. I called Avis left a message and they sent someone to look at car. it was left on a busy curve and no one from Avis called me to let me know what to do. I spent hours waiting. So with no response we took a cab back to lodging. The next day I called Avis and spent hours on phone as the desk at Shannon airport knew nothing about incident. They were good and brought me a car out pretty quick. Trying to reach anyone was useless. Finally a week or so later I reached avis. They comped me one day and didn't offer to reimburse my cab. I thought Avis would be much better but the customer service was bad
Fantastic car hire at Avis West Ireland Knock airport. The young man behind the counter could see that I had mobility problems and brought the car round to the front door so that I didn’t need to walk far.
Fast efficient pickup and drop off. Good value. Would definitely use Avis again.
Great service, fast and efficient.
Very easy booking and collection process using Avis Preferred.
Absolutely horrendous . My holiday is wasted in horrible smelly offices. We wasted 3 days in the offices and many headaches so if you think of renting with Avis think again
Absolutely professional staff
If employees cannot provide valuable service and are impolite, I would prefer an automated system to handle key distribution. I recently rented a car from Avis at Dublin Airport, and the experience was profoundly unsatisfactory. Here are the main issues I encountered: 1. Airport desk experience: Upon arrival, the service was immediately unwelcoming, with two out of three staff members being particularly rude and unhelpful. Despite the booking confirmation stating a card hold of EUR 2,500, we were abruptly informed that it would be EUR 5,000. Additionally, my French debit card, used for the online booking, was rejected at the desk. I now understand that this is Avis' policy. French people beware - they will gaslight you in saying that all French customers have credit cards and they have never heard of this issue. Instead of assisting us, the staff suggested we go to a competitor despite our reservation. When my British friend, the second driver, offered his American Express credit card, we were advised to cancel the online booking and rebook at the desk, risking losing our reservation and money. Ultimately, we were forced to take Avis’ insurance to keep our reservation. Recommendation: Clearly state on your website that debit cards are not accepted at the desk to avoid such issues. We would have used an American Express card from the start if this policy were transparent. 2. Lack of flexibility and assistance: The staff could not cancel or amend our booking and provided bad advice without assisting with the card issues. Overall, they can't do much and the current staff provide limited added value. 3. Price discrepancy: We booked the car online for EUR 216, but the desk staff told us that it would have been EUR 150 if booked directly at the desk. Such a significant price difference is unacceptable. 4. Drop-off experience: Upon returning the car, the staff member in the car park was uncommunicative and demanded the keys while we were still in the car. He inspected the car without any communication, rushed me to sign a document without time to read it, and left abruptly. 5. Final invoice: Despite prepaying EUR 216.53 and an additional EUR 62.99 for extra insurance, the final invoice was EUR 331.12. This lack of transparency in billing is unacceptable, and as of today, I have not been able to get a clarification. However, the car itself was good, modern, and clean.
L'efficienza è rapidità in ogni passaggio. Dalla prenotazione online dalla mia MyAvis al return dell'auto in aeroporto
Terrible customer service - dirty car and broken passenger seat. Really disappointed- Avoid Avis if at all possible.
Charged me for damage to a car that I did not do. Cost they charged for accused damage was disproportionate & customer service just awful….avoid this company…particularly be wary as the don’t joint inspect car on arrival or departure.
The pick up process was very efficient at the airport - we were away in less than 10 minutes. The car was perfect for our needs and drove very well. The returns process was very efficient and all done in less than 5 minutes.
Hired a car from AVIS based at City of Derry Airport. Dealt with a pleasant man called Martin Harkin. Excellent service from Martin. Very informative, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend. Pauline Davis
Frequent renter but this time it all went wrong. I rented a car from Avis Dublin Airport and it broke down on the way back to the airport after a 3 day rental. It was a new 2024 with barely 3,000km on the clock. No way it should be giving up in the middle of Dublin city. I had to wait 2 hours for breakdown assistance (I don't blame AA it was very busy) but this caused me to miss my flight. I've been waiting for over 2 weeks and no communication from Avis, no response to emails, no answering phones. The staff at the desk have been great in the past but no one answers the phone or emails. Edit (5 June): Just got an invoice for €1000 with no communication or explanation. Still no contact and no-one speaking to me from Avis. Edit (7 June): so Avis gave me a car with a fuel issue and are trying to blame me without any evidence or discussion. I used to be a loyal customer and that's gone now.
