Robert located the source of damp problems in our block of flats quicly where other professionals had failed His reports were clear and his response times were excellent Would highly recommend Damp Detectives
Scott came and did a damp survey on a property we are looking to purchase - he wasn't the first surveyor we had round but the quality of his survey was incomparable to the others. It was very clear about where the issues were and the remedial steps that needed to be taken. It gave us leverage to ask for money off the price of the house so was worth every penny. Scott also took an additional 30 minutes out of his day to walk me through the report and explain in simple terms all of the different issues with the property. Honestly couldn't recommend him more highly.
We were puzzled where damp was coming from, been ongoing for the 5 years from purchase. Scott was very diligent checking where damp was in the room and found rear wall easily the worst. Outside found damp proof course on the 2 outside walls was 6 bricks higher than floor level. House built 1985! Advised solution and other remedies. Could not have been more professional with a very pleasant nature. Spent 3 hours, very diligent. Money well spent.
I hired Scott Clark to investigate a problem while selling my house. Our buyer’s surveyor suspected rising damp in a party wall. Scott quickly disproved this and identified the source of the problem as a local leak that was easily remedied. He’s polite, professional and provided an excellent written report. I would strongly recommend him to others.
I found Scott very easy to deal with and told me exactly what i needed to know. Really professional and speedy to deal with. 5 stars from m
We would thoroughly recommend Scott. He undertook two inspections for us and quickly identified the source of the issue and we then used his report to help get the issues remedied. Thoroughly friendly and knowledgeable guy
Last November, we engaged Robert and a colleague to perform a damp inspection on an Edwardian house we subsequently purchased in Northwood prior to completion as an initial survey found evidence of significant damp on water meter readings. Robert and his associate did a very thorough, considered and professional inspection of the property and found that the vendor had inexplicably sealed six subfloor air bricks with either foam spray or decking/paving stones/gravel, thereby preventing the brick house from proper ventilation and the ability to breathe and release moisture as originally designed. There was also evidence of faulty chimney roofing flashing and rainwater goods (gutter downspout) causing damp which they found and outlined. Damp Detectives also did a subfloor inspection and found some evidence of white rot. They made specific, common sense recommendations to correct all the damp issues in the house and we were able to negotiate most with the vendor prior to completion. Based on Damp Detectives recommendations, in the last four months we had all the air bricks opened, had a bricklayer install a new air brick at the side of the house, and had the flashing and guttering repaired and adjusted. We had the floors sealed from draughts and refinished. It has completely remedied the damp issues and the house is now breathing with no signs of damp. Recently we called in Robert to answer a question concerning defunct air vents in the kitchen and he graciously offered his keen advice. We highly recommend Damp Detectives in sorting any damp issues or survey you may need.
We are so glad we found Kristine Reilly she has been totally amazing from start to finish. Full contact, prompt and on time visitation, a full survey report delivered which exceeded our expectations and highlights issues we did not know about. Added to this she is a bright, intelligent and consummate professional and exceedingly passionate about her work. We cannot thank her enough for her time and effort and correspondence. We had a damp and mould smell coming from our bedroom in our rented house among plumbing, electrical problems and a leaking roof. Sadly our landlord took the approach to serve notice on us instead of repairing anything. The landlord blamed us for all of the issues at the property. We asked Kristine to do an independent survey. What it showed was worse than we thought, the landlord still seems to be in denial and their subsequent own surveyors, who never actually create any reports, have verbally agreed with Kristines initial comprehensive survey, thus proving our complaint. If it was not for Damp Detectives, we would be blaming ourselves and not the landlord. You are the best Kristine.
Worst £300 spent, the guy came did the mimimum, told me what i already knew. Thought he would put camera into cavity to see actual source of damp, but no.
Highly recommend using this company, Richard was so professional and helpful. I phoned this afternoon on the back of having a survey done on a house I am in the process of purchasing. Survey reports came back as a recommendation to book in a damp and timber survey which is why I phoned damp detectives. Richard was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to look into my issue and run me through the likely cause, taking the time to read through my report. His time and advice was so appreciated and I would have no hesitation booking in Richard if I had damp problems in the future, thank you very much!
I contacted Damp Detectives to do a survey of my house after a insurance company rejected my claim for water damage. Matt George from Damp Detectives found the leak that the insurance company surveyor was unable to find, enabling me to successfully request re-opening of my claim which has subsequently been agreed. Matt was very professional in everything that he did, from initial correspondence to the survey it self. Offering advice and help throughout, I would highly recommend this company.
Initially, we were hesitating to use their services; there were no reviews on trustpilot and payment is required up front. As it turns out, our worries were completely unjustified; we got a thorough and professional investigation and they explained their findings in a comprehensive and unbiased manner. The fact that they only conduct inspections and have no dealings with builders is a guarantee that they are completely on your side and will recommend the best and cheapest solutions to fix your dampness problem. Highly recommended!

Sep 30,2022After almost a year of arguments with my housing association regarding the damp state of my Front room, Bathroom, Airing Cupboard, Passage, and Kitchen. At least 8 plus workmen have come to check plus 3 surveyors, each surveyor telling me there was no damp in my property or damp caused due to sun not reaching back walls. Not one of these surveyors brought a damp meter to detect if there was indeed any damp. One claimed to have over 10 years of experience in this field yet still arrived with just a mobile phone and stating there is no damp in my property. Finally received a message from Thames water stating water does not stop flowing through my meter and only then did they send a plumber round who agreed there was a leak under solid floor. Leak detection company arrived found leak pumping out over 300 litres of water per day at this loose connection point on a tap connection fitted on 15/12/2021 This was now July 2022. Housing still insisting after all this time there is still no damp. --------- In desperation I did a search and found Damp Detectives website, I had nothing more to lose and after reading feedback decided to get in touch. I requested a damp survey report from Damp detectives and received a very prompt reply from Scott Clark who arranged with me a convenient date for a damp test. Really professional the way he handled my questions before the actual appointment date, nothing was too much trouble which I really appreciated he just simply understood all my concerns and assured me I had no need to worry and explained I would get a full report of his findings around 7 days after the test. He arrived as promised on date and time, I was surprised at how efficiently Scott worked he just got on with the job in hand and he did explain some findings as he went along. Everything covered with up-to-date equipment and photographs taken at each spot whether damp or no damp everything was covered even pictures of my blocked and damaged guttering no ladders required, a brilliant piece of equipment. Scott was so thorough he found more problems than even I realised there were. And my report as promised arrived within the 7 day period. I am very happy with this report it was money well spent and now I feel more confident going forward with my complaint to my housing association. After 11 months of hearing “There is no damp in your property” Scott, you give an amazing service and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, now I know why my health is deteriorating so badly breathing in all these damp spores for so long. Wish I had found you much sooner. Damp detectives are not selling you any repairs, just simply a damp test reporting on any problems your property may have. That was why I put my trust in this company.
