Feb 19,2025My daughter is selling her house, there is a lot of work to be done to get it up to a selling standard. It's a 1930's semi, where over the last year damp has strated to come through. Though I am more than capable to carrying out any remidial work, damp is most definately not my forte. When in doubt call in the experts. I contated the Damp Detectives and spoke with an INDEPENDANT specialist named Jonathan. We spoke on the phone and made an appointment. Jonathan came out yesterday and surveyed the building giving me an honest appraisal of the issues based on his decades of experience which includes National Trust properties. Jonathan took the time to explain, in layman terms, what I needed to know and answered all of my questions. What was really important to me was not be be faced with someone trying to sell me something; as Jonathan is an independant there was none of that. He turned up and provided the service we agreed on. Highly recomend.

Feb 18,2025We booked a visit from Andy with Damp Detectives. He was very responsive and arrived on time. He carried out a thorough inspection of the property inside and out and in the loft. He was happy to answer all my questions and clearly explained the issue and some different ways to deal with it. The report matched what he said on the day. Very happy with the service and would recommend them .

Feb 17,2025Quick to book - and the report was really informative and comprehensive. I've had damp proofers in before that have misidentified the issues and sold me things I didn't need. So although it is an added expense, it would have saved me a lot of money if I'd had an independent survey in the first place. I can't recommend independent damp surveyors enough.

Feb 12,2025The surveyor was efficient, prompt, considerate, true to his word and was prepared to "go the extra mile". My damp problem is not serious, in fact hardly noticable but I know these things only get worse. I've had 2 builders and a surveyor inspect my damp problem and after a cursory inspection each confidentaly told me a different cause. Thomas, on the other hand came equiped with all the gear to perform a thorough survey. Afterwards I received a clear report. I would highly recommend Thomas Chow for anyone with a suspected damp problem.

Feb 03,2025We had a survey done by Bryony to discover the source of our problems with our suspended wooden floor. She spent several hours checking the whole house, was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to talk us through what she was finding. We received the report within a week detailing her findings and a list of what we should implement to cure the problems. We would recommend Damp detectives for an independant, unbiased service.

Feb 03,2025Matt came over and thoroughly surveyed our property giving explanations on what was causing our damp and honest recommendations on how to fix it. Report was sent promptly, was in depth and very informative, and even gave suggestions on how we could enforce a damp proofing guarantee that a previous damp proofer had given our property's previous owners.

Jan 31,2025Richard came over and advised on our issues. We had been quoted circa £2,000 for a new DPC by a local 'independent' damp surveyor who also happened to install these. We contacted Damp Detectives as we wanted to understand the actual cause of the problem. Richard came over and before long identified some key areas of water ingress and poor ventilation through the house that were actually the cause, gave us professional advice and a good list of improvements to make. We now feel much more comfortable paying for/carrying out the work that is actually needed as we now know the reasons behind the problems and understand how the individual pieces of work will address the issues. Great service, thank you!

Jan 24,2025Very thorough and helpful report which served to allow neighbours to work together to fix a leak over a shared area of wall. Thanks for your time in clarifying to us all the situation. The builders were also impressed how your camera and assessment could exactly locate a crack in the plaster of the wall even though this was hidden under lead.

Jan 22,2025I would definitely recommend Jonathan Young the SW surveyor. He was punctual, professional, friendly and very informative. I felt a trust in Jonathan, that I was particularly grateful for, especially after being messed around by another company. Jonathan's findings were easy to understand and very helpful indeed, in helping me understand what was happening in the house already and what I would need to do to improve things and which aspects were needing priority. Jan 18,2025Andy arrived not equipped to do proper investigation just a damp meter ,and told me i had damp which was very evident, then took 10 days to issue a report which was actually useless and didn't appertain to my problem with no offer of solution or cause. For this I was charged £450 complete waste of money.

Dec 18,2024Contacted Tim and Andy to inspect a damp cellar of our shop. We only use it for storage but the damp was pretty bad and we just wanted to improve the situation. Tim inspected the cellar and provided a report with pragmatic and practical remediations we could to improve the conditions - very happy with the independent advice and service.

Dec 16,2024Contacted Damp Detectives as I have a buy to let property and the tenants reported damp. One of the main reasons was that they are independent. Evie contacted me the very next day and arranged for Jamie to visit the property. The next day after the visit Jamie called and went through his findings which really helped and within a week I had a full detailed report to assist in dealing with the damp. Jamie also took the time to explain to the tenants the importance of ventilating the property. The service was excellent and I would highly recommend thankuuuu Evie and Jamie 😀

Dec 10,2024Scott (Clark) came to look at a condensation problem I had in my bungalow. From the first he replied promptly to my calls/ emails. He turned up promptly, set about the task immediately and fed back in easy to understand language. There was no selling of follow up work/ companies to use. I feel Scott was totally trustworthy and did an excellent job. I highly recommend his work for anyone needing a reliable investigation into a damp problem.
