Bought 10mx5m marquee through eBay in May 2022 but did not erect it until Monday 22nd August for event at the next weekend, so out of eBay 90 day guarantee. On Thursday 25th August it rained heavily and we returned to site early evening and found marquee partially collapsed with severely damaged poles, 25 in total. The collapse could have caused significant personal injury had persons been inside. Although erected properly the collapse was due to the weight of water puddled in the roof because the roof pitch on the 5m wide marquee is too shallow for adequate water runoff and insufficient roof "rafter" poles. Contacted customer support who referred back to Germany then refused any remedial action as they said it was not damaged on receipt. I said that the item was not of merchantable quality or fit for purpose under the UK sale of goods act. To add insult to injury they quoted me just over 70% of the total marquee cost of £549 for less than a third of the total number of poles after a so called "good will" discount!!! We replaced the damage poles with stronger poles of the same diameter from another source but the next time it rained, this time with gentle rain over a longer period the same thing happened to the middle section where we had not replaced the original poles. And after more replacement poles in the middle the far end collapsed again in light rain overnight. I contacted UK Trading Standards but as the company is based in Germany I was told I would have to see if German standards could help. I gave up. To sum up avoid this company at all costs.
Use Gazebo shop instead! Terrible company to deal with! 7 days to reply to an email, even then we only recived a reply after opening a case with paypal. Currenlt awaiting a full refund that hasn't been offered by House of tents (toolport) they would rather drag it out through paypal despite having collected their terrible quality goods already. If Paypal don't refund me ill need to go through the small claims court and report the company for fraud. AVOID!
After initially purchasing a replacement Gazebo roof after our original one was damaged after being out for 2 years The replacement roof we received started to sag and leak due to the collection of rainwater in two corners. when contacting the company i was asked to supply photo's which i did. I received a message from Michael apologising for the defective item and was sent a new roof free of charge within one week. i cannot express my gratitude enough for such a speedy response and resolution to the issue. i stated to Michael as it is now coming into autumn i will not be putting the new roof on until next spring his response was just let me know if you have any further issue and he will deal with it.
Having had an issue with this company we are now very pleased that our issue has been sorted out completely, Alexandria at House of Tents took care of everything and resolved the problem with our storm protection pegs straight away. Well done and thank you Alexandra Mueller
Do not use this company if you value customer service. After initially purchasing a Gazebo which we were delighted with we needed to replace the roof covering after two seasons. The replacement is defective, as any rainfall pools and causes sagging. They informed us that it was not guaranteed against inclement weather and that the new design has been made larger to prevent tearing. After many emails and calls this is still not resolved despite sending photos of the defective product. The tarpaulin roof we have is not fit for purpose. We have been offered a discount to purchase the replacement roof which we feel is an insult. We feel it should be replaced free of charge.
Brought a marquee, set it up in conditions that were good, within a day the poles broke and snapped and marquee is no longer usable. Messaged company about this got no reply. Company do not care about customer service.
After a lot of research I decided to order a pop up gazebo from House of Tents, even though I was put off by the bad reviews. I am absolutely thrilled with my Gazebo. I called a couple of times for advice and spoke to a very helpful chap on both occasions who couldn't have been more helpful. Product arrived a few days later (by a private courier), all packaging was fine apart from a little damage to one of the boxes. Nothing was missing and all in good condition. Gazebo is now up and I love it... no rain yet so cannot confirm its fully waterproof so fingers crossed. Thank you HOT for all your help. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your company.
Good product. Found 3 damaged poles with my tent. No reply to my email after 4 days and only after my phone call did they start to process replacement poles. All sorted out now by Jacob who was very helpful.
So there are a lot of mixed reviews here. The quality of my premium 4m x 6m marquee is superb. Rock solid. The customer service from Debbie and Henning was also excellent - very knowledgable and sorted things out quickly. So what did they need to sort? Well the reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the packaging is flimsy and one box was so badly damaged the courier didn't even bother to deliver but just sent it back ("pieces all over the warehouse"). However when I called that same Friday afternoon at 5pm CET (yes you get through to a German call centre but they have excellent English), Henning asked a few questions then ordered the dispatch of the replacement box immediately, after checking stock levels, which arrived the following Monday morning! Impressive! Please be aware that you cannot hope to store this marquee in the boxes they arrive in - you need to purchase carry bags which I did with the guidance of Debbie as it wasn't clear what I needed from their website. Debbie took her time and told me exactly what I needed. They arrived quickly and are of good quality (an extra £119 though but worth it to keep an £800 marquee in top condition). So, overall, I am very happy with my marquee but please HouseofTents, stop blaming the couriers for all the many reports of damaged boxes - supply stronger ones!!
Thought I should add a review since initially after ordering and not getting an email to confirm despatch, I was concerned on reading such terrible reviews. It took many attempts and a few unanswered emails, however I persevered and when I did get hold of Debbie, the customer service was good. She chased up my order, I received confirmation of despatch the same day and it arrived the following day, all within 4 days of order. The marquee was great, all parts arrived. Thanks
I can only suggest that if anyone values their sanity do not purchase from the house of tents. I tried three times to get a marquee delivered, made literally dozens of calls and mails to customer service and received the worst level of customer support I have ever seen. Once it was finally agreed I would get a refund I had to wait over a week for it and eventually had to get my bank involved. Oh yes, and twice the courier company said they delivered it when they had not and this was somehow my problem to prove. It ultimately transpired the goods were 'damaged' and sent back; for some reason the courier company choose to label this as 'delivered'. I never actually got the marquee I wanted for the event, despite ordering it 4 weeks before it was needed.
The worst experience I’m getting married hence I bought this marquee in the trust of what the website said. 3 working days it’s been over them working days and we still have no product I called them over 18 times asking where it is they keep hanging up I also sent an email and have no reply. Finally one guy not mentioning names as I’m not going to steep that low said it’s not guaranteed and can take another week. I ask if I do refund how soon will it take to come back in my account he said it will be instant we process it and should be in your account in 1 hour GUESS WHAT ITS NOT EVEN IN MY ACCOUNT AND THE PRODUCT IS CANCELLED WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE PLAYING AT!!!!!!!!
We recently purchased a Rendezvous Deluxe Pergola from this company and it arrived the week we wanted it to arrive, we checked that everything was in the boxes and everything was there, there were nothing missing or damaged. We followed the instructions and took us time to put it up, but it was well worth it, the pergola is good and sturdy, we are so pleased with this item and we would highly recommend them. we spoke to someone at the company and they were very helpful. No complains what so ever.
DO NOT BUY FROM HOUSE OF TENTS!!! customer service is rubbish. needed the marquee for this jubilee weekend and it can not be used, 1 box from 5 missing and other boxes so damaged that poles have fell out. customer service people are not interested. really disappointed, and now considering small claims court to try and get my £600+ back :-(
I ordered a gazebo for a family party which came swiftly. Unfortunately I made a mistake with my order. The costumer service I received in correcting this issue has been outstanding. The product itself is well made and very sturdy and I will highly recommend House of Tents/Toolport to one and all in the future. Couldn’t be more happier. Thank you to all the Team Mr Paul Phelan
I just spent over £1,400 for a professional pop-up gazebo. The gazebo was delivered on time. However, when it came to assembling it, the frame was clearly damaged so would not mount properly. I made the on-line complaint to the company but received no reply for a couple of days until I called the company. My case was then handled by Debora Merida In Customer Service who was extremely supportive and understanding and replaced the product without further discussion. So after a disappointing start, this supplier took ownership of the problem and solved it.
I recently ordered a gazebo costing in excess of £500.00 and was assured that it would be delivered in time for Easter as I had family coming from Spain and France - having not seen them for two years due to Covid. I received a message to say that it had been shipped on the 11th would be delivered on 13th April. On 14th it had not arrived so I contacted House of Tents and the shipper which was extremely confusing as the shipper was listed as Tuffnels, one of the documents said it was Hemisphere Freight and Cargo Line was also mentioned!! House of Tents assured me that it was delivered on the 13th - it was not and there was no signature. I was then told that it was impossible for a replacement to be sent in time for Easter. On 19th April I received a message to say that the gazebo would be delivered today but the tracking documents were the originals saying that delivery would be on on 13th. This is the most shambolic company I have ever had to deal with. Finally as a gesture of goodwill I was offered mosquito netting for my gazebo - not terribly helpful for use in this country!!!!!! I suggested that as I had spent many hours emailing and telephoning to try and sort out this mess that if they really wished to make a gesture of goodwill that they deduct the cost of the netting from the price of the gazebo and refund me that amount but this was flatly refused and I have not heard from them since!
Absolutely terrible service by their delivery agent! Ordered 23/3/22 was given two to three day delivery turns out to be longer. Tufnell driver didn’t card or get out of van and rts was on the track, cctv checked and it’s clear. Item was sent for redelivery due yesterday 8th April, Tufnell driver came with 1 box of 3 and said he could not get the other 2 boxes on his van so rts AGAIN! Spoke to you cs person and after many calls they called me back at 5.30pm yesterday to say, Tufnell will deliver this morning 9th April. Still not here tried to call both parties and they are all closed for the weekend, drove to the Tufnell depot all closed up. Spoke to a chap there who told me they won’t deliver at the weekend and if I haven’t had an acknowledgment from them to say it will be delivered then it won’t be with us today. I ordered this item in good time for my event today of which should of been my special day which is now completely ruined! 🥲😡 it’s not a cheap item it’s over £800 worth and I would of expected better, especially from a company that has such positive reviews! Makes me think are they a true account! So thanks Tufnells and house of Tents my event has been cancelled! Not happy is an understatement
Had the 3x2 marquee and due to being a bit thick on an assembly issue I phoned for help. A chap talked me through what to do and within an hour it was erected. Live it as had pop ups before that just looked pretty but did not last, I have more faith in this product looking at structure. Great service thank you

Oct 04,2022I would never use this company or trust him again I ordered Marqee a cover did not fit the frame I called and emailed them several times I had to send a lot of pictures and videos which I did the person dealing with it stopped playing to my emails and calls weeks later I’ve managed to get him on the phone he said it will be three months before I get a replacement cover after this time of past I had to call again it was still out of stock I was told I would get a full refund I’m still waiting it’s almost been one year January this is a very dishonest company the people working there and not nice I would even go as far as calling them thieves I didn’t/don’t want my money back I just wanted a working Marquee. The staff come across so nice but it was all fake. Avoid them at all cost.
