We have just been on a very turbulent journey selling my mum's house and buying another property as our buyer's solicitor was shocking. Thankfully we had Daniel Kenworthy working for us and I honestly believe that we would have either lost both sales or be still waiting to exchange contracts if we hadn't have had him on our side. He communicated with me in a way that was easy to understand. He was ahead of the game every step of the way pre-empting what was coming from our buyer's solicitors. He was calm and extremely professional. I would highly recommend Ison Harrison's solicitors and Daniel Kenworthy.

Where to start with this firm. I agreed a sale on my first property in early March 2021 and knew that with the stamp duty deadline looming things might be quite slow moving, but was not prepared for just how slow with Ison Harrison. Charles Knapman was responsible for ‘handling’ the purchase of my first home. He ignored almost all of my emails and it was only after multiple follow up calls/emails did I get a response from him. When I managed to speak to him, he was dismissive and rude, blaming the delays on an innumerate number of things. I sent over a few questions regarding the property - all of which went unanswered. Because trying to engage with Ison Harrison was such an unpleasant experience, in the end I gave up and turned to liaising with the estate agent instead - which proved much more fruitful. After appointing Ison Harrison in early March 2021, THREE MONTHS LATER, in June 2021 and I still hadn’t even received the paperwork from them (despite my best efforts). I asked for some reassurance that they would cover the stamp duty if the deadline were missed, which they agreed to share with me in writing. On Friday 28 May the vendor’s solicitor notified Ison Harrison that the vendor was seriously ill and the transaction would need to happen quickly if it was going to happen at all. My solicitor didn’t inform me of this until a whole week later, on Friday 4 June. That same day, I FINALLY received the paperwork from Ison Harrison. In a rush to get everything exchanged, I signed all the paperwork, drove it to their office and agreed to transfer the funds across as soon as I could. I got to the bank across the road from their office just before 4pm and they said it was too late to move the funds at this time. Unfortunately the vendor died over the weekend. In an email to the vendor’s solicitor, Ison Harrison then went on to blame me for the delay, stating that I hadn’t transferred the funds in time. I only know all of this because I asked Ison Harrison to send me a record of all the correspondence between them and the vendor’s solicitor. Now in March 2022, exactly a year after agreeing a price with the vendor and multiple back and forth with Ison Harrison, the firm is now refusing to acknowledge their previous commitment to pay the stamp duty if the deadline was missed. Ison Harrison has ruined the experience of buying my first home due to their chronic failings and their abysmal attitude. After recent calls with them to try and resolve this issue, I’ve been advised to take my complaint to the ombudsman, which I will do. Please avoid this firm at all cost!

I would give them zero stars if I could. I went to them for legal advice. I received an initial response, but once I sent the information requested, I never heard from Katrina Stapleton again despite chasing her.

Magdalena was fantastic, I was instructed to use Ison Harrison via a new build purchase initially, Magdalena was excellent, unlike my solicitor that was selling on my behalf, due to this I used her again independently for both sale and purchase. I was kept up to date, emails were responsive and I found a lot of empathy.

We’ve just completed on both buying & selling. We got fantastic service from Nefisa Afzal from start to finish. All queries were answered straightaway. Kept upto date throughout the whole process. Definitely would use her again. Highly recommended.

In the beginning they seemed quick and easy, however towards the end they had a lot of issues with their fees. Make sure to check your original quote to their completion statements as mine was wrong 3 times. The case handler called me the day before completion telling me I owed them another £200+ and if I didn’t pay, completion wouldn’t go ahead! I had to dig through emails whilst packing to show I did not owe any money and it turns out they actually owed me as I had overpaid because their completion statement was wrong! They didn’t send me the form to get my money back until I chased it a few days after completion. Was told I’d get the money within 3-5 days and I didn’t. I had to chase it up the next week and wait another 3 days. Just not very organised at all.

Horrible experience! Showing no respect to you. You pay money for the service, but don't get what's entitled. They do ignore your emails, and once you ring them they talk in a selfish way on the phone. You must chase all your paperwork yourself, when solicitors should have sorted it out for you. Moved into a house 1,5 years ago, and still waiting for house plans, land documents to come. Wish i knew what they are like from the very beginning, so would have looked for solicitors myself, and not going for the ones recommended by builders

As landlords we have used various solicitors over the years. The past few years we have used Dhiran at Ison Harrison and I can Honestly say that Dhiran is the best solicitor we’ve had. Communication for me is key and Dhiran always comes back to any questions very quickly by either email or a phone call. An excellent service from start to finish and highly recommended.

We’ve just completed on a house with Isons in Morley. Natalie Earnshaw was dealing with our purchase and was absolutely brilliant from start to finish! There were issues with other solicitors in the chain but Natalie kept chasing things up on our behalf and kept us in the loop the whole time. We will definitely use her again in future. Would highly recommend.

I had the misfortune of the purchaser of one of my properties (my daughter) choosing Dhiran Mistry as her solicitor. Not only did he not case manage in a timely fashion, he also failed on multiple occasions to respond to emails, phone calls and general requests. This wasnt limited to my daughter, either he also failed to respond on multiple occasions to my own solicitors as well. On three occasions (different dates) she emailed Dhiran to ask for a completion date and he failed to respond to her at all. If you have a choice, give yourself a lot less stress and choose more wisely. Dhiran is uncommunicative, unresponsive, unhelpful and lacks general oversight.

Great service and professional Outlook from Daniel Kenworthy and his team. I dare say if all Conveyancers operated like his team there would be far fewer complaints and issues in the conveyancing world at the moment.

I have had the worst solicitor performance ever with Natalie and her team. I have been extremely unhappy with the service levels we received from Ison Harrison. I instructed them to take care of our sale because we had very good experience in 2014 with them and even though their quotation was £200+ more expensive than other firms I decided to work with them to have a piece of mind. What a mistake!! Not only I wasted £200+ but also had stress and frustration throughout the sale process. It took more than more than 4 months to complete the sale. Bad experience started with the documents sent to a wrong address; I was not even told that I should expect a pack from you and after waiting 2-3 weeks I sent an email to remind them “you should have sent something to us to start the sale process”, then without even a reply to my email I received the pack in the post after a few days even without an explanation or an apology. My tenants forwarded the pack to me and then I realised the pack was sent to our house I was selling rather than our home address. During the course of the sale process, I left at least 4 voicemails (maybe even more) requesting “a call back” not “an email” and I always received an email after 2-3 days. I haven’t received a single phone call from any of them, including the successful completion or an apology. When they forwarded the inquiries of the buyer’s solicitor to me, I answered them ASAP. They needed some documents and I hand delivered them to their office to speed up the process (200 miles from my home), yet it took another 1 week for them to reply buyer’s inquiries. I called Natalie after experiencing all the delays and told all my concerns openly as mentioned above and I was told that our file will be checked on that day and I’ll get a call. It was not surprising that I didn’t receive any communication, yet I called again after 8 days to get an update and learnt that nobody touched our file. I know that due to SDLT holiday they had more clients than normal, however that doesn’t mean that they can ignore their clients and compromise quality standards. I am extremely unhappy with the service standards received from Ison Harrison. I can see that lots of things changed since 2014. I DO NOT recommend Ison Harrison for conveyancing.

My partner and I have just completed our house purchase, and we were really impressed with the service we've received from Ison Harrison. They were very responsive, including over the Xmas period, and never left us hanging around for a reply. They were highly efficient, too. We were dealing with Claire Loftus, and she deserves huge congratulations!

In 35 years and over 20 property transactions I can honestly say that in my opinion have never come across a firm of solicitors so useless and unhelpful. They say a fish rots from the head and this applies here from Jonathan Wearing, the managing partner who will not speak to you; Rachel Warsop who claims to specialise in property matters; and Olivia Williams of the conveyancing staff in the York office. As a purchaser our son working shifts in the NHS during Covid-19 asked Ison Harrison to deal with me on his behalf which they totally ignored. We were better informed by the vendors solicitors and in the end had to transfer to another firm who achieved in one month more than Ison Harrison managed in three. If ever you are recommended by an estate agent to use Ison Harrison ask what commission they are being paid. At least they managed to complete the searches which helped the new firm, but that is about all they achieved.

Do not use Ison Harrison! Or do so at your peril! They sent our wills with EVERY bit of personal and financial detail in to the wrong address! They have taken no responsibility for the error to date or even had the courtesy to apologise to us We tracked the paperwork down thankfully by guess work and the paperwork was so flawed it was clear noone had even proof read it. I wrote to them and asked why they didnt have a return address on the envelope or even sent it by a signed delivery but didn’t get a response. I then made a formal complaint and the managing partner Johnathon Wearing (not surprisingly) has continued with the lack of customer service (but more contempt) for his clients. Unfortunately its clear he does not warrant our complaint as important as he does not respond or take responsibility for such a huge mistake. Just an apology wouldn’t go amiss under the circumstances? I genuinely would go elsewhere!

I have used Ison Harrison for conveyancing twice (both buying and selling). I dealt with Nigel Cowley (covering Otley and Ilkley) who was responsive and explained things in common sense language. I see other poor reviews below, complaining about time to respond, etc - In my first experience of selling with Ison Harrison, we were able to complete in under 8 weeks, which I think is pretty good. In my experience, there are so many parts in the process (exacerbated by COVID-19) - whilst I recognise we all want someone to blame when things slow down, I don’t think it’s always the entity most visible to us as clients. I would contact Nigel again, should the need arise, but can’t comment on others.

In the past I have worked in conveyancing for a number of years, I understand how the industry works and have a lot of sympathy for everyone assistants and conveyancers at this busy time. But Daniel Kenworthy the branch manager of all people has been incompetent during a transaction. I am not his client, I wish I was so I could speak to them direct. To tell every party his client, the estate agent and my solicitor that we were ready to complete. To then realise he had been sat on 12! Out standing enquiries the my solicitor never received and his team never chased up is completely ridiculous client care. My solicitor then worked her hardest to answer them all as soon as possible under the agreed understanding of trying to get completion through before xmas due to his error. Low and behold Daniel strikes again the file is ready to exchange and complete and has been since yesterday completion are able to go ahead until the 23rd every other solicitor in the chain is willing to do next week and he refuses backing out of what was agreed even tho the office and lenders are open. breaching of section 3.2 and 3.4 of the SRA. I fully understand that completions aren't planned so close to christmas the reason being if somthing goes wrong theres a few days to try and resolve the issue and time to get it through as has happened here due to Daniel's incompetent work on the file originally. And if your client wants to raise a complaint I will very happily help her all the way to the legal ombudsman as it's her who has no where to live after the 4th of january and you who cares so little about your client you wouldnt action a doable completion knowing this yesterday.

Well what an incompetent company! The first month seemed promising with staff being helpful and finding out everything we wanted to know. After we exchanged contracts they now don’t want to know, aren’t communicating with us, we have been waiting for 2 months for the answer to a query and they just don’t seem bothered about helping you once they’ve done the hard bit. Sent another email two weeks ago to which they said they’d get in touch, still nothing (even after sending emails to them myself) Rang over a week ago, lady said she’d have someone ring the following day, still nothing! Never ever again, it’s just making the stress of buying a house even worse.
