Sep 27,2023Booked a car that I picked upp at their location close to Budapest Airport. Chose to rent from Klasswagen because they had the best price and a free shuttle from the airport to their location. Came there at shortly past one in the middle of the night, with a tired one year old baby on my arm. Went pretty quickly through the renting process until we came to the payment. The guy offered me two alternatives: - number one, where I would leave a deposit of 2400 € and an additional 100 € (for e.g. speeding tickets) and then I would need to pay 150 € for the rental - number two, where I wouldn't leave a deposit besides the 100 €, and would instead get full insurance and pay 320 €. I was surprised about this since I had a booking confirmation stating that I had to pay 150 € for the rental and there already was extra insurance included. Since I knew that I would barely use the car besides for getting to the holiday apartment and back again (but not use it during the holiday itself) I went for alternative one. The guy asked for a credit card and little did I know that all of my three cards were debit (BUT NOT PREPAID!) cards. He told me that he can't accept them because he can't take a deposit on a debit card, which means that I was forced to take the second option that was more than double the price. They didn't give me the option of cancelling the rental (which is stated in their rental agreement). He neither accepted the card of another person who wanted to help me because it had to be in the drivers name and even though I told him that my card is NOT a prepaid card (which they say in the rental agreement is not accepted) and that a deposit can be hold on the card, he didn't accept it. I had to go with option number two but wrote to them directly the day after, sending information from my bank stating that my cards can be considered credit cards and it is even stated in the banks FAQs that they try to update car rentals that debit cards can be used. The bank warned for unserious rentals like this. Sadly I saw this too late. I questioned that Klasswagen was able to hold 100 € on my card but not 2400 €. No answer to that. However, in the end it was my "own" fault because they stated online that only credit cards would be accepted and not debit (prepaid) cards, but the way they make their money is just incredible and nothing I want to support in the future. Won't rent from them again. Otherwise the car was nice and clean, but service was horrible. Also sad that they upgrade some people for no money and brag about it online, but they "can't" take a deposit on a debit card (which I proved them wrong). Sep 22,2023We have been using klasswagen in the past years, over 20 times. We never had any issues with this company no matter what time our flight landed. Both, their customer service and collection team(from the airport) is an absolute asset to the company. We were always satisfied with their cars and overall service. I haven’t been checking it lately but when I did, their prices were always the best ones between all the airport rental companies. Sep 19,2023Very quick and efficient collection and return of the vehicle. Car was only couple of months old. Car was clean except of the windscreen from inside that cold be polished better but that was not a big issue.Pick up from and back to airport was very quick as well. Highly recommended.
