Over charge for the small items and ignore the big jobs!
Both Wendy and Tam were very helpful and understanding. Wendy had some technical issues at her end but did all she could to rectify the issue then called me back to confirm.
Michael and Tamur from Newtown Property are effective communicators in the way that they are continually communicate to home owners regarding any changes, developments or issues to do with their properties. On a number of occasions, I mentioned small things that I felt needed fixed (just general wear and tear) and they responded to me immediately and the issues were resolved quickly and professionally. They are also keen to get best value (in terms of money and results) for home owners when it comes to ground maintenance etc, and the aesthetics of the building, both inside and outside which is much appreciated. I also like the way that they are approachable and take any issues we have seriously. Bottom line is I have confidence in Newtown Property management because of people like Michael and Tamur who deal with the homeowners.
Newton property management promise a service that they either can’t or are unable to deliver due to complete incompetence. If you make a complaint rest assured the lack of service increases. I’ve had numerous issues with them from not responding to maintenance issues in a timely manner, sending contractors out without arranging access, taking the most time allocated to respond to email enquiries, allowing large sums of owner’s money to accumulate in their accounts without informing the owner and taking a long time to return, not overseeing maintenance which incurred a 4 thousand a month electricity charge from a faulty garage ramp which owners have paid for as it’s not their problem… Honestly, if it wasn’t so painful to deal with Newton and costly it could be a carry on film. Sadly I’m not left laughing. Shameful incompetence with staff who seem to have no accountability for their actions or lack of and don’t care less. It feels very much like a “boys club” them and us.. Don’t expect any customer service they have absolutely no idea what that is. AVOID.
Leslie Scott is five star.
Since becoming our manager Kiran has worked to ensure communication is clear, she responds to requests and keeps us informed. Makes a massive difference in dealing with the company and is really appreciated.
responded quickly when contact via telephone and got someone to my property right away.
The biggest advantage of selling our property was knowing we wouldn't have to deal with Newton anymore. Their Glasgow team are awful at dealing with queries in a prompt manner, I had to call them multiple times in one day last year as I never got the call backs I was promised. We sold in January this year and are still waiting for a refund which I have chased twice in two consecutive days. They can't claim on their website 'That’s why you and your property can expect individual attention from our team' when it isn't true.
Had to contact our Factor due to damaged fence and landscaping not getting done and had the pleasure of liaising with Hayley Robertson who has been extremely helpful and accommodating, all works have been addressed quickly, she’s been a great help!
Murray is a brilliant ambassador for your company. After over 12 years of trying to get issues resolved. Murray got a result.
Spoke with Hayley Robertson this morning re a maintenance issue at our property. Very professional, knowledgeable & helpful. Was able to resolve successfully.
I’ve had ongoing communications with Newton Properties over the years however I’ve been particularly impressed with Euan Urquhart, who has recently been assigned as our property manager. Euan has made communication on difficulties much easier, with his promptness and pleasant manner. He always follows up swiftly by email or phone call.
Kiran was very quick to respond to my request regards management issues for our block and has been very professional and helpful.
I recently reported a lighting problem within our building. I reported this directly to Jamie Lee McKelvie, who responded promptly and attended to the repair immediately. She kept me updated on the likely timescale of the repair too. Whole job sorted within two days! Well done Jamie Lee, on behalf of Newton.
Fantastic and responsive service
Justine responded very promptly to my concern and request for help in restoring my terrestrial TV service by requesting the aerial contractor to contact me urgently to investigate and restore my service. Justine reacted with concern and understanding and generally acted in a thoroughly professional, constructive and courteous manner with which I have previously experienced in the short time that I have known her.
Having Hayley has made the experience of a new property agency a smooth transition. We have had some difficult situations but overall Hayley dealt with these challenges professionally and efficiently. We still have some way to go but I feel confident in Hayley's knowledge, skills and experience.
Newton can certainly talk the talk but when it comes to walk the walk they’re left standing. I speak as secretary of our owners committee and victim of Newton’s Aberdeen office. Their laissez-fair approach to billing which results in lack of transparency, ambiguity, duplications and blatant mistakes is Newtons most revealing shortcoming. Response to blunders is always slow and rectification if it comes requires persistent badgering. Since dismissing Newton 4 months ago, communal electricity bills dating back to 2022 have been submitted for payment - bills which the records clearly show as already paid. Similar duplications and dubious charges over the years confirm Newton’s gross ineptitude at managing client accounts. Using an energy broker just compounds the chaos but may provide Newton with another income stream adding to the 30% commission they receive from the insurance broker plus any further rebates direct from the insurer. Our new factor has obtained quotes from alternative energy providers offering substantial reductions to both standing charges and unit rates - shame in you Newton. If you need a factor in NE Scotland my advice is to avoid Newton or if like us you become casualty to a Newton take over I suggest you make immediate plans to jump ship.
Having recently taken over the management of our estate, Kiran has been extremely helpful and supportive regarding a long-standing and complex issue. She has responded promptly to emails and has also taken the time to phone to discuss more urgent matters. I have found Kiran to be both professional and approachable and who takes time to listen and explain.

Jul 15,2024I could write a book on the saga we are still no further forward with, but mostly it boils down to poor communication and the over all decline of our development in general. We are trying to deal with a building issue which has affected our ceiling. Now granted this involves an insurer which are slow too, but Newton have dropped the ball every time it seems to be in their court. For context, we currently have no ceiling in our living room which is totally open to the eaves and has been for over three months. Our property manager Sam was asked by the insurer to find two quotes from contractors to move things along. After ten days he communicated that he was having a meeting with one contractor to do discuss. We then had to remind him that it was supposed to be two quotes, which he promised he would get to us by the end of last week. Surprise, surprise, this came and went and after emailing for an update i found out he was on annual leave from the day after i called so it was never happening and i’m left waiting. We could have had quotes for works sent to the insurer two weeks ago. Hope Sam is having a lovely holiday and the rest of the office enjoying the ‘Glasgow Fair Monday’ off. We as ever, patiently wait for your reply.
