Keep away. No refund. No communication.
Similar to many reviews below, I bought BA flights from Optiontown that were subsequently cancelled by the airline. BA emailed to say I was entitled to a full refund, but that this must be initiated by Optiontown. Optiontown claims it must be initiated by BA. After 10 weeks of emails and phone calls to both companies, I am still out of pocket with no resolution in sight. It is clear from the reviews below that Optiontown knowingly employs this deceptive practice. It is nothing less than theft. Their CEO, Sachin Goel, who has a high profile on LinkedIn and Twitter and is fond of posting gung-ho, feel-good messages about entrepreneurism and business growth ought to be ashamed of himself.
Optiontown sold me 10 BA segments between LGW and Bordeaux. BA charged me for the segments, so BA possesses my money. I then booked my flights on BA. BA then cancelled ALL of the flights I had booked. I'm now trying to get a refund. BA says they need Optiontown to request the refund on my behalf, but Optiontown refuses to do so--they say it's BA's responsibility. So without Optiontown's help, I've effectively been robbed of £555 by BA and Optiontown.
I should have given minus 5. Pathetic and worst service, please don't trust them specially when looking for upgrade with Air India.
Realy Very Bad optiontwon i want rebook my ticket and send email called many times they said every thing ok finlay we lost Ticket and much money my enargy
In the EU if your flight is cancelled and you opt for a refund you are required to be refunded within 7 days, it's called EU Directive 261/2004. Option Town, as a travel agency, resells the tickets of British Airways, amongst others. My flight on 9th September was cancelled, British Airways were on strike, I was informed more than 14 days in advance, I wasn't entitled to compensation but I AM entitled to a refund of the cost of that leg of the ticket. Option Town told me to speak to BA. BA told me that as the ticket is bought in bulk by Option Town, only Option Town can activate the refund. They told me Option Town must call the British Airways Trade Support line and the refund will be actioned. I called Option Town and asked them to do this on 12th September. It's now 2nd October, I've just come off the phone with British Airways, Option Town have not called the British Airways Trade Support line regarding this. Therefore my refund cannot be processed. EU law says I am entitled to a refund. Option Town are simply sitting on the case. BA can't refund because they don't know how much to refund (Option Town need to tell BA, but they won't make that call). As Option Town is not an ABTA bonded travel agent I have no recourse through ABTA. They are registered with IATA - their IATA number is #91402242 but they've given fake details - they've registered themselves as British Airways - the only valid British Airways IATA code is the 125 you see at the start of all their tickets. BA are not a travel agency, they shouldn't have a travel agency code, but when you enter Option Town's IATA number into the IATA lookup, this is what you get: 91402242 is a Valid IATA Numeric Code AGENCY DETAILS Trading Name: BRITISH AIRWAYS, Country: UNITED KINGDOM) Now Option Town no longer pick up the phone when called, I can only assume they've gone bust. Shame - the cheap tickets were handy but the lack of support or customer service (and their inability to comply with their legal obligations) were an absolute pain...
I recently took several flights using UTO's. I never received an upgrade, but clearly understand it's a game of chance in obtaining one. I would, however, expect them to honour their promise by informing me prior to my flight. I also did not receive a full refund, I was told it was due to the 'currency exchange'! The whole experience left me out of pocket by AUD78.00. What a great little scam! Take your money, make income from it and wait for the exchange rate to go your way before refunding it.
Very very bad....Don't follow airlines guideline..Website itself is not user friendly.. Wanted to add one extra bag and didn't have any option... Airline told me that I will be able to get the refund but Optiontown don't follow their guideline..they have their own...As a third party supplier Optiontown always have to remember that they have to follow customer and supplier requirement.... Very very bad...
What a waste of time. No email to confirm anything until I sent them an email and I was already checked in the airport. I called before i got to the airport and nobody answers the phone. On hold for over 30 minutes and number 1 in queue. I wish i could give a zero.
Very BAD experience, in fact these are some of companies that take you money and NEVER respond. This, and all similar ventures that siphon off your earning should be put to an end. KEEP AWAY!
Honestly the worst experience of my life . I used option town through my flight I booked with VietnamAirlines - so assumed as a reputable company was using them they must be good . However it seems not , I went to through the process to upgrade my flight from economy - I went through the process, filled in all my details , “paid” - then the website said error try again later . I then received an email saying I was unsuccessful as their website crashed and to try again . I left it for a few days and went on my banking app ( for another reason ) and saw that option town had taken the payment for the flight upgrade out of my bank account - not once but three times ! Even though I had received an email saying their website crashed , so option town had effectively taken over £2000 pound out of my bank account . After weeks on the phone and emailing them trying to sort this out they finally refunded me , after claiming they hadn’t taken any money from me ( even though I have the proof ). They proceeded to tell me to try again if I wanted to upgrade I asked them if they could do it via email and they said try by phone - which I did , the line cut off however but somehow optiontown have managed to yet again take £700 out of my bank account. And I am not again in a feud with them about them refunded me for something I never had and them claiming they haven’t taken any of my money . The bottom line is , don’t use them they are just concerned about taking your money and have no customer service skills whatsoever .
I do find this website and the product perfect for what I need. Haven't had any major issues so far. Just some small issues on the website when I wasn't able to book my flights but I've contacted customer service and it got sorted within hours. The app still doesn't work, therefore the missing star. Initially I've read the reviews and I saw 2* but most of the reviews are based on upgrades not on actual bookings. You can book your flights and done. As well I saw some reviews regarding the price for a flight. Yes, maybe you could get cheaper I don't know, but only if you have the time and energy to constantly look for the cheapest fare. If not a flat rate for your flights without having constantly to look for your flights I think that is amazing. If you are looking for some reasonable cheap, hassle free airline tickets in order to commute back and forth to your business, job or home I do recommend their product.
I HAVE USED OPTION TOWN 5 OR SIX TIMES ALL WITH AIR ASIA FLIGHTS. I BOOK A FEW DIFFERNT SEATING OPTIONS EACH TIME. ON ALL OCCASIONS I HAVE GOT ONE OF THEM. THE ONLY TIME I TRIED FOR A BUSINESS UPGTADE OPTION I GOT IT VERY CHEAP ... AUSTRALIA TO KL... ALL THE OTHER TIME I HAVE GOT THE 3 SEAT OPTION SO JUST LOVE BEING ABLE TO LAU DOWN ON AN OVERNIGHT FLIGHT.. ONCE THE SEAT WERE THE ONLY EMPTY SEATS IN THE WHOLE PLANE.. JUST FOR ME FOR A MINIMAL COST OF $50AU... YES 5 STARS ALL THE WAY... ALSO I HAVE BEEN REFUNDED PROMPTLY FOR OTHER OPTIONS I CHOSES AS WELL..
One pays Optiontown for the option to upgrade. In the few instances that the upgrade came through (on Air India), this was great. for the ones where they didn't and we were entitled to a refund....I'm still waiting! Optionstown's revenue model here seems rooted in exhaustion and frustration. They hope that having paid the upgrade amount and when not having gotten that upgrade, you will get exhausted and frustrated communicating with them endlessly to get back what is yours - a refund for seats that were not upgraded. I am still doing so to get my refund for a trip from 5 months ago - and Optiontown's stated policy is "refunds processed within 5 days".
Never board Air India. Never use Optiontown instead pay at airport as that is cheaper for upgrade of baggage instead of 6000 I was charged 8400rs and though online I would have got 20% discount hence it makes to nearby 5000 rs. They are fraud. I was given option to upgrade from 23 kg to 32 kg and they charged me extra baggage for 32 kg. I am charged rs 3000 extra and now they are not giving any refund to me. I have screenshot of their website and it clearly says upgrade to 32 kg and not add 1 32 kg. I am going to consumer court for this.
They are fraud .. I did online upgrade to business class for My wife infant son .. 5days before the flight through optiontown . At the time of checkin at the airport they said we couldn’t see any upgrade from option in our system or any email from optiontown . Which she need to pay again for business class upgrade at the airport to Airindia flight kochi to dubai .. well she had no other option ,Airindia staff said please contact them and ask for refund which I have been following up til now no response from them . When I contact optiontown they said upgrade has been done from our side which is in our system . So if it’s done from optiontown ,so we can refund why do we need pay at the airport again for upgrade. I have all emails All the Receipt , email etc I have even forwarded the receipt from Airindia which i paid at the airport .. FRAUD ******
On a recent trip, I had an upgrade that was accepted by Optiontown. The outbound leg went well but when I checked in on the return leg, the counter staff told me that the Business Class on that flight was full, despite me having an email to show it was successful. I then begain a torturous process of trying to claim back a refund from Optiontown which is now into its 4th week. Upgrade at your own risk people. ** Update** I stumbled upon my review recently and decided to update my review after seeing quite a few 'suspicious' 5* reviews. After 18 months of waiting, I have never heard back from Optiontown and never got back my refund. Perhaps when CoVID is over, this review might serve to warn others about what they are getting into.
Had a great experience with Optiontown for Flight Pass. We got savings of about 40% for our trips. Plus, now we don't have to keep spending time in searching for flight deals every time, we book. It takes only a couple of minutes to book our flights. We share the pass among our 4 family members.
I really enjoyed the smooth system between Optiontown and OmanAir. Looking forward for my upgrade next Tuesday flying fm Cairo to Muscat.
