I found Russell & Russell difficult to deal with - from unanswered phone calls and e-mails to the more serious matter of ''our'' solicitor seeming more like he acted for the vendors than us, the buyers. Our instructions were ignored - we had requested on more than one occasion ''indemnity insurance'' to aid a speedy sale completion on our house so we wouldn't have to wait for the searches to all be complete; but no, the solicitor knew best, did not take out the insurance as instructed and plodded on with the searches. This not onliy took time, but when the searches came back with some negative results, we were then unable to insure against them. This ineptitude resulted in us having to rent the house we had ''bought'' while the process dragged on and we ended up three thousand pounds out of pocket. Not to mention all the stress and uncertainty. Good luck to you if you sign up with this outfit - you will need it.

It took 17 weeks for our mortgage (Middleton office) to be completed (no enquiries necessary so no legitimate reason for this delay other than solicitor delays). We had to chase them every day to get anywhere and the staff on the phone repeatedly said they'd call back and didn't. They try to fob you off on every call with nothing being done. Barely before I've finished they're saying 'okay bye, bye'. We're nice people but after 16 weeks of patient phone calls we were left with no choice but to be firm. That was the only way anything got done in the end.

I was left extremely disappointed by the service from this company and by their response to my complaint. If this company is acting on behalf of your mortgage provider in assisting you with remortgage, I would look very very carefully at all the paperwork, and if you can, seek advice elsewhere. I am bitterly disappointed in their work, and the consequences of revealing personal details and unnecessary details to the land registry.

Shocking experience with this company, it was a simple re-mortgage but was stressful from start to finish. Terrible communication, never answered their phone, never returned messages or emails, had to constantly chase them on a daily basis for any updates, think it wouldn't have gone through if I hadn't chased them. Completed at the last minute. Never again will I use this company, shocking.
