Apr 03,2019The whole process was handled with diligence throughout. There were some changes to the original plan (delays in the conveyancing chain) which were accommodated without issue. The move itself was carried out to the letter and all belongings were safely off-loaded with no damages or losses. The whole staff were excellent both in the office administering everything and ensuring the move went as smoothly as possible and the removal crew were friendly and took care to load, pack and unload everything safely and securely. The experience showed in a seamless operation. Much appreciated and recommended.

We have just used them for our move to East Devon and all the way through from quotation stage, through to the actual moving date the whole experience was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Tracy was extremely helpful with organising everything for us prior to the move. AJ and Lee who actually moved us were fantastic, both extremely helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble for them, whilst ensuring that our move was a smooth and enjoyable experience. We don’t intend moving again for many years, but have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending Stephens to family and friends.

Jan 27,2019Moved house from St Albans area to N Beds this week. Had Stephens full pack/insure/move service over 2 days. Advance admin/quoting & Crew of 3 on the day were all superb, absolutely brilliant service & a pleasure to deal with. Used Stephens first time in 1996, again in 2003 & they have always been first class. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

Jan 04,2019Booking was managed well despite it being a busy time of year and near Christmas. Loading and unloading was very efficient with no damages. For a long distance move, this couldn’t have been less stressful. Many thanks to all the lovely staff at Stephens for their help and support

Nov 08,2017The movers turned up on time (actually, early) and seemed professional and courteous. Once everything was packed up in the lorry, though, their approach seemed to change. They told me they were going to head to the new property, to which I replied that the previous owners were not yet out. I was in direct contact with the previous owner, who asked them to hang fire. I also conveyed this to them, but they seemed dead set on going to the new property (at 11am!) as quickly as possible. I asked them to at least wait while I did a walk around of the house to make sure everything had been taken. They then drove off before I'd done the walk around, leaving a load of my tools in the garage, which I had to arrange separate transport for. They then sat outside our new property for over two hours while the previous owners were still moving out. Before the previous owners had left, Stephens were already moving our items into the house — against our express wishes and the wishes of the previous owners. We weren't even in attendance when they started moving things in. My wife asked the crew leader what was going on, and his response was 'things that were in the old garage go in the new garage, yeah?' to which my wife replied 'No, they go in whichever room is written on the box'. Every box was labeled in large black marker pen with the room things were to go in. Despite this, the crew had to ask me on four separate occasions which of the bedrooms were which. We ended up with 46 items being put in completely the wrong room, despite all of them being labeled very clearly. When they'd finished, they shoved a piece of paper at me and asked me to sign it. When I asked what it was, the response I got was 'It's to say the job is finished. Just sign it'. We had three unused boxes left over, which they took with them, telling my wife they'd be credited back against our invoice. (Stephens have a policy whereby you buy the boxes on deposit and get the money back when they're returned.) When our refund came through, it was 3 boxes short. We told Stephens this, who spoke to the team, who denied that conversation ever took place! This shocked and offended my wife, especially after their antics on the day and then calling her a liar. Overall the impression we got is that they were very keen to get finished as early as possible on a Friday, regardless of how well done the job was. My parents used Stephens 8 years ago and had almost exactly the same experience. Would not recommend.

Aug 09,2017I've never used a removal company before, but moving from a 4 bedroom house I knew I couldn't manage it myself. I found Stephens on the internet after having contacted a couple of other companies that were rude and didn't call me back. I emailed Stephens and within 5 minutes I had a lovely lady call me back. I moved yesterday and was very impressed. I had 3 lovely blokes on my doorstep at 8:30am! They were all friendly and polite. Other than stopping for a quick cuppa they didn't stop working (or singing!) all day. Very happy chaps. They were organised and took great care in handling my personal belongings. They even helped my 2 young daughters arrange their bedrooms. They made my whole day stress free and patient. I would definitely recommend Stephens to others!
