I work at Amelia Trust Farm, a charity based in the Vale of Glamorgan. We were experiencing a severe damp patch and a lot of condensation in one of our tool rooms. Timberwise sent Craig Manson out to us to assess the problem as we had already had 3 other companies look at the problem,Craig investigated the problem and solved the issue within 30 minutes. With complete honesty he explained that there wasn't much he could do as we had installed a stud wall that was causing the issue. As a charity Timberwise did not charge for the call out or on-site time, becoming a life long friend of the farm. I would not hesitae for a second in calling them out again, in fact i look forward to it.
I thought that Timberwise were a reputable business, until today.... I bought a house that held 20 year guarantees for Timberwise work on damp course treatment. Over the weekend water poured in through a wall, so contacted Timberwise. They tell me that I should have transferred ownership of the guarantee. NONE of their paperwork issued at the time the works were done states this, their terms and conditions do not state this, and at this moment, their website does not state this. What is the point of a guarantee that is for works on a property, but is guaranteeing a persons name??? Is this legal? How can they take a persons money for an insurance backed guarantee that has to be against a property and then not honour it? Shocked, disappointed, and heading off to my solicitors.......
What an amazing company! Timberwise have Gone above and beyond to help me. There work is faultless and professional. Simon Lockyer is not only a great surveyor but was also there for support and advice right up until work commenced. Chris’s timber and damp work was clean, Tidy and perfect. Connie and Jackie were also a great help during the whole process. I would recommend Timberwise to anyone. I feel so lucky to have them work on our flat. THANKS A LOT GUYS. Oli Jessup
It is not often that once can 'sing the praises of a company, whose technical work was and is of such a high standard that I became their advocate with the Loss Adjuster who managed a considerable, water/flood damage from 2 burst pipes in-what it turned out-to be my neighbours property. This company, responded as in disguised 'knights in shining armour' to my increasingly desperate cry for help as my basement office area turned into a site of a fast running stream, complete with sandbanks! ---video evidence can be supplied. Over a six month period, despite the odd hitch of life and circumstances, the technical team- Graham-surveyor, James-pump and sump linked company, and the work of Nick, the technician who did the restoration work and the new manager, Lee oversaw the considerable and complex task of resolving all issues, liaising with the Loss adjuster-Quadra claims, and myself until all matters were repaired, restored to brilliant effect. These 4, went beyond the call of duty a number of times and i am and will be for ever grateful. I can unreservedly recommend this company for its aim for an excellent standard of work, despite all difficulties that were in their path.
Very good service. Quick and polite. Clean worker on site. Would recommend.Good price.
I invited three companies round to quote for some dry rot treatment work and Timberwise were marginally the cheapest. Graham (the surveyor) was very informative and gave good advice. The work commenced quicky within two weeks of first contact and the workmen always turned up on time. The customer service was good with Louise being very accomodating with organising work to fit in with our schedule. I would recommend Timberwise for anyone experiencing a similar problem.
Absolutely brilliant work, and excellent service. The technicians - Steve and Mark - were polite, courteous, friendly, tidy, and consummately professional.
We have had a really hard and upsetting time with Timberwise Liverpool. I hope this review serves as a warning to others looking to get dry rot / damp treated. They started a job removing dry rot from our downstairs living room in early 2017. They replaced part of a sash window frame, multiple floorboards, and replastered a quarter of the room. As well as treating the rot. We had problems with them from start to finish. The rot has now been found again in the skirting boards in the same area where they conducted the work. Here are the problems we had with them: 1. They cost a lot of money compared to other companies 2. They took nearly 2 months to complete a job which should've been done in 1 week 3. Days would go by without anyone coming to the house and the job half finished 4. We were rarely kept updated on the progress of the work and we had to call them to find out what was going on / what the delay was 5. One day we came home in the pouring rain and found the window was boarded up, no one had told us this was going to happen 6. After calling up to complain we had someone sent round to complete some demanding manual jobs and they sent someone with a broken arm! 7. We found rot back within 18 months in the same area 8. They were going to charge us £160 just to come out and have a look 9. Their surveyor came out and spent 2 minutes looking at it, he failed to assess the walls, windows and floor boards 10. He said that they had failed to properly finish the job 11. He spoke to a director who then refused to honour our guarantee (which we had paid a substantial amount for) and refused to finish the job 12. Now we are left with an incomplete job, visible dry rot in the room, a guarantee which is worthless, and have already had to pointlessly redecorate the room once which cost us £500 13. After complaining they said they would come and see the work again with the complaints team in 3 weeks time! 14. They then agreed to come sooner, reviewed the work and once again accepted no responsibility for the incomplete job I am now awaiting an independent surveyor to come and review the work and I’m going to liase with the ombudsman. I would wholeheartedly not recommend this company to anyone.
After requesting a survey on line, I received a call within 24 hours. The lady arranged an agent Tom to visit. He was very friendly, and refreshingly honest about what did and didnt need doing. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quote - less than I had imagined. The technician, Kevin Pidwell, arrived on the arranged date promptly. He was also friendly, polite, and very helpful, explaining every stage of the job. I would 100% recommend Timberwise to anyone.
Quick, efficient service. Explained everything in detail but in an understandable fashion. Mark Gough and Kevin Fieldhouse were nice and friendly. Would use again if had.
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Go the extra mile for customers
I had technician Stuart Fairbairn come round to treat woodworm problem. He arrived on time, was friendly and courteous. Let me ask and all my questions and answered them and then gave me some free advice which was very helpful. He even went above and beyond the service by helping cut some of the floorboards I hadn't done. Recommended.
Do not use Timberwise. They may provide cheap surveys but there's a reason. Following a survey completed by our mortgage provider, they highlighted timber and damp issues in the roof. We were recommended to get a specialist survey completed. The only reason we had the survey done was to get information on the roof. Timberwise provided us with a report but had failed to inspect the roof. They stated that the roof wasn't accessible. The roof is accessible as the first surveyor wouldn't have been able to highlight the issues if so. I then spoke with Andrew Pemberton who is the charted construction manager. He assured me I would receive a full refund. This was a month ago now. I still haven't received a refund and they have ignored all communication. We also received a quote from them regarding the damp in the downstairs of the property coming to around £3500. We got another contractor in to inspect the property. For the same piece of work, they quoted £1700.
Timberwise fitted a waterproof membrane to our property in 2013. At the time we had huge concerns about the quality of the worksmanship which we raised with the Managing Director. A few years on our concerns have been realised and we now have serious damp problems in places we have never had before. We asked Timberwise to come back which they did and they knocked some exploratory holes in our walls. That was 6 weeks ago and we are yet to hear in writing what the problem is and what they are going to do to rectify it. Please make own decision about whether this is a company you want to work on your home.
The internet gives us instant access to companies and how the rest of the world see them. I mean seriously, I won't buy pants if the reviews are well pants... Anyway, I really wanted to leave these guys a honest review because if there is anyone in the same situation as I was last week I hope they stumble upon this and know that regardless of the outcome Timberwise will support and help them in every single way. So the actual review. You need a bit of back story. We are selling our home. Accepted an offer. Surveyor comes to visit. After completing his survey he informs me, "I think you have dry rot". Now I have no idea so he roughly explains and the costs 😳 involved in having it fixed. I inform him that's ok I have home insurance buildings, critical illness, broke a toe nail and well just about every kind of insurance there is. "I doubt you are covered for dry rot" he says. So after he tottled off out the door, I do what any clueless person would do and googled it. Now googling dry rot is the same as googling tummy ache before you know it you have a burst appendix and glandular fever. Except with dry rot your house could literally just crumble to a heap (serous case apply). I am now filled with utter panic. I mean in my head I am only going to have a roof over my head for three more days. I desperately looked for a company that would come and give me a price to stop me, the kids, dog, cat and tortoise having to live in a tent (husband is bobbing about the ocean somewhere, just out of morse code reach, so he was never getting a signal). I call the first company I can find. Send a picture they told me and we will tell you what it is. Now bear in mind I am now literally counting down the hours till we are homeless. SEND A BLOODY PICTURE!!! What! I have a killer orange and brown, wood, stone and humans body eating mushroom in my loft and you want me to send a bloody picture. NEXT! So I called Timberwise. By this point I had cried so much that my hubby could of just pulled up alongside our doomed house. I spoke with a lovely lady called Rachel, who I think is from the Bournemouth office. She calmed me down. Informed me that it was all going to be ok. Informed me that there was solutions for dry rot and that Timberwise would be with me every step of the way. She booked a surveyor to come and visit me in just three days time. She explained everything that was going to happen. All of a sudden I don't feel so alone. I knew that there was something that could be done. I can't thank her enough for her time and compassion. Roll on two days and Steve the surveyor from the Bournemouth office came to the house for a loft inspection. I have already forewarned him that I am most probably going to cry and that I am so sorry. He came fully equipped and informed me not to worry he would take a look and we would devise a plan of action from there. By this time I am already silently panicking because I know in about twenty minutes, I am going to have to find £30,000 to fix my loft space. Steve comes back down and informs me that I don't have dry rot, in fact what I have is a bit of condensation from when we had our external wall installed and that we had taken the necessary steps by placing adequate ventilation in the roof. I must of asked him about a thousand times to say it again. In the three days waited for Steve's visit (three days is such a short time) I had totally convinced myself and prepared myself for the worst news that I hadn't taken a second to consider it might just be something else. He was professional and informative all times. He answered my questions in detail and explained things differently if I didn't understand. The whole of the Timberwise team have in my opinion been amazing. I couldn't recommend them enough. They didn't take advantage of how vulnerable is was feeling. They didn't get annoyed with my thousand questions and nothing and I mean nothing was to much trouble.

Apr 04,2019We had been advised, by another company(who also quoted for doing the work), to undertake remedial work to a dry lined interior wall. We were told that the dry lining should be removed, and that the external wall should be re-rendered, using a lime-based rendering, or, at the very least, the space between the dry lining and the actual wall should be properly ventilated. With a view to getting two more quotes for the work, we got in touch with Timberwise (Barnstaple) to give us a quote. Tom Dear (Managing Surveyor) came all the way up to Bideford from the Timberwise Exeter office, and spent quite a while examining and taking moisture measurements from the wall. He then told us that the wall was fine, and that no remedial action was needed. In effect, he did his company out of a possible job, in the interests of giving an honest judgement of the situation. We have other damp problems, and Timberwise will be the first company that we contact about these. We are most impressed by the honesty shown by this company.
