I have zero respect and will never use a company that I am unable to contact. This company would not respond to any of my requests for a quote, so are now dead to me.
We had a dry rot issue. Surveyor knowledgeable and communicated well initially. However what started as a "£12k absolute maximum" turned in to a £30k total removal of our flooring. Paid for a hugely expensive inspection that they then realised was insufficient which led to a £2k increase midway for additional building work. Hopefully the dry rot is solved/they honour their guarantee because this company nearly bankrupted me. The finish on the replastering they had to do was also poor. Overall they do what they say they're going to do, but they're super pricey.
I have had some damp proofing done in both bedrooms last week and I can only say great things about Timberwise. The technician was called James and honestly he was really caring and professional. All my belongings were covered. He was really really tidy and just a pleasure to have around. The works look absolutely brilliant and confirmed by a few of my friends who know about this kind of work. All of them said it looks like a stellar job . So thank you James for the excellent work
I’ve just witnessed something amazing .Gary Hart the Senior surveyor for Timberwise in Richmond SW15 6NP just came to assess my cellar, for which I had been previously quoted many thousands of pounds of work to prevent damp. He told me it was all dry, after checking with a very good professional damp meter, and all I needed was a humidifier or extractor fan to lower the humidity. There had previously been water ingress due to no drainpipes which has been sorted. The experience of meeting such an honest person was quite moving. I would throughly recommend his service, and I see from other reviews that the rest of the company is equally professional. A big thank you.
If I could give no stars I would. Firstly, the estimate increased by £2,000 before the job even started from £7k - 9k. Just had damp proofing installed and during the work the rep emails me to say that there is some loose stones above a window and door that need reinforcing. He sent some indistinguishable photos and then quoted £3500+vat to put cement above a front door and one window. In his email he said he needed to know whether I wanted to go ahead THAT DAY otherwise the work would stop, and he couldn't guarantee when they would be able to return. Obviously, I felt concerned about my house being left with no plaster board up and looking like a builders site so I felt pressured to agree. I spoke to a builder about this and showed him the photos. he said this type of job would be £800 - £1,000. Timberwise charged me £3543 + vat. I think this is outright ripping people off. They didn't replace my shelving and they made NO adjustment for not replacing the floor boards which was part of the original quote. Also, prior to the work starting I specifically asked for insulated plasterboard given that the property is in Scotland hills. They put standard plasterboard along all walls. I would never recommend Timberwise to anybody. I will be lodging my complaint with Trading Standards.
From initial contact the interaction with this company was excellent, they sent out their surveyor called Scott who did a thorough survey of the house to determine problems explained what we needed to do and gave us a reasonable price for work that needed to be done by them, gave us a date for commencing and how long it would take. Workman called Thomas arrived on morning in question completed work in allocated time and left everything in a clean and finished state. Dealing with a girl called Sharon in the Thornliebank branch in Glasgow for all enquiries was easy. I would highly recommend them and ease they dealt with everything. Thanks again.
We have had some rising damp in the basement of our Victorian house. Timberwise was referred to us by an experienced Chartered Surveyor that we know, and we were really happy we followed his recommendation. The team was very professional, friendly, polite and tidy from the survey through to installation of DPC. Finishing with the plastering was excellent and was truly an art of work! Also, very good communication from the office staff. Great job, and well done! We would highly recommend.
strongly recommend you do not use this firm. Their work for us in restoring and preparing a roof for slating was inadequate and they knowingly covered over poor quality work. The sarking was left not attched to the rafters, uneven at the ends and incapably of carrying slates. They failed to sufficiently support the underlying roof with new rafters and we spent a very large amount of money remedying their work. Subsequently they have proved very aggressive in pursuing monies not owed and adopt a threatening and aggressive tone.
Thank you for responding to my complaint, hopefully the problem is now resolve
Engaged you to conduct a Damp review in 2022, after completing the works you recommended. I still have issues with damp. I’ve requested a revisit and reexamination under the terms of the guarantee and insurance but had no response. Upon further investigation it turns out that the actions of remedial injection which they recommended is an action not recommended by Property Care Association and Rics which they claim to be members of.
Initially requested free survey but advised it would cost £100. Went ahead anyway, surveyor was SI, pleasant enough guy, survey was very quick. Received the report in August, not happy with it, the only useful bit was about four lines, the rest I could have got from the internet. However as time moved on realised needed more specifics and perhaps more help. Therefore contacted Timberwise recently (mistake to contact the Manchester office - they're not big on customer service) . Fobbed me off, blah blah will call tomorrow of course they didn't The Although condensation shown as a '...slight problem..." there's an area of wall at low level where the moisture meter was literally off the scale/red/red/bleeping. Doesn't seem feasible that condensation would have penetrated so deeply. Needed help with understanding this, there are often combined causes. Also am I meant to infer that the condensation is caused by lack of ventilation? Extremely disappointed:( UPDATE; Timberwise offered another survey to compensate (my understanding) for the deficits within the first. Eventually arranged a date for that survey. You'd think this might have offered explanations, tentative diagnosis, useful information, helpfulness. No. In fact the second survey was a total rerun of the first one. It was quite clear what the surveyor wasn't going to do. I got the impression I should be grateful for the surveyor turning up since it was a 'free'. The report, what report?! I received an email referring me to the first report. Yes really. So don't go thinking that because Timberwise tells you how wonderful they are in their smart info pack and they can do this that and the other AND they're members of the Property Care Association. All that means zilch. Lip service. Who knows you might get lucky, if you pay top dollar an experienced surveyor might turn up, someone whose genuinely motivated to work with you, and come up with a diagnosis. Good luck with that one.
David and Wayne have just finished a 3 day job on my property. They are a credit to the company so polite, cheery and hardworking. They both did a fantastic job with damp proofing and renewing floor joist and flooring. Would highly recommend these two employees.
Dean was very quick and efficient in removing plaster from my living room walls to enable the damp to dry out. He was friendly and polite, and left my place clean and tidy after the work was done. Thank you Dean.
Excellent service from Timberwise (Leeds) from beginning to end - treating extensive dry rot in Gr2 Listed apartment and cellar beneath, relacing timbers and ceilings/floorings and making good. Survey was clear and detailed, planning for the work to be undertaken was careful and detailed and (as absent leaseholders) we were consulted and kept informed – by email and photos – at every stage of the work. Any queries on our part were responded to promptly and helpfully – nothing was too much trouble. The work undertaken was thorough and well finished – giving us every confidence that the problem was sorted. Special thanks to Ethan, Russ and Mark for the work, to Katie for the project management and Peter for the surveys. Chris and Martin
Timberwise were excellent and very kind/efficient in resolving an issue I had. Would highly recommend.
I contacted Timberwise for a free initial survey of my home, a 400 year old cottage with a lot of timber, having found 2 live wood beetles and anticipating the news that we had an infestation. Ashley was knowledgeable, friendly and thorough looking over the whole house. He took much time to answer all my questions and clearly explain to me (and my curious 6 year old son) the types of beetle we'd found (a death watch beetle and a furniture beetle), the pros and cons of treatment and how the treatment worked to break the beetle's life cycle. What I appreciated hugely was his honesty that, as we'd only found 1 beetle of each type and there were no further signs of current beetle activity, TREATMENT WAS NOT NECESSARY for the time being, especially as the chemicals are strong and we have children. Not often that you get such honesty! I feel confident I know what, when and where to look out for signs of beetle activity next Spring and definitely will get in touch with Ashley at Timberwise if I have any questions or more beetles emerge.
Arranged for Timberwise to come to check a damp patch in house, suspected rising damp. Surveyor came on time and was extremely helpful, turns out it's not rising damp and he gave me very good advice as to where to go next. They did not charge for this visit and I would definitely use them in the future if I need to. Highly recommend.
We’ve had a problem with mould on an internal wall, and after lots of expensive advice from plumbers, builders & decorators we decided to call Timberwise. This really pleasant well dressed guy call Tim came today, and following a free survey, told us that we didn’t have a serious problem and no water leaks. He gave us some really good cheap ideas to solve our problem which we were so pleased about and it gave us peace of mind. Thank you Timberwise and thank you Tim. We would throughly recommend this company to anyone experiencing damp or mould issues. Mike James
Thank you Timberwise for fixing what was a very scary dry rot problem in my house! I cried the day that Gary came and we discovered how bad the dry rot was. Timberwise were fantastic - Gary was very hands on and explained everything. And a big thank you to Mystry who was so hard working and incredible at her job. Very clean and done everything to make sure that the job was finished to a high standard. Mystry is a real asset to the team.
