Lewis and Colin were 5 star lads. Excellent work and really friendly! Thankyou!!
Being in the unfortunate position of having dry rot I obtained various quotes to carry out repair works. From start to finish, Timberwise surveyor Scott Heggie fully explained the works, treatment and also the downside of potential dust mess when taking down floors and ceilings in an old Victorian sandstone property. The delivery team of Mark Ross, Thomas McAlpine and Liam Ross arrived on day one and set about putting down protective covers to protect flooring, radiators, window ledges, doors etc. The team were excellent arriving at 8 am every morning and setting to work immediately and working continuously all day - all debris removed daily. 7 days later works completed, and although there was significant dust from deafening and plaster removal the guys left the rooms in perfect condition. Thoroughly recommend Timberwise for a very professional job.
We have moved to an old house that needs a lot of timber maintenance and repair and I'd say without hesitation that Timberwise are our trusted partners on this journey. We've had the same surveyor, Marc and the same on site craftsmen, Aiden and Jack and they are a great team: sharing their knowledge and expertise as well as completing the remedial work which has been significant. Their manner is kind, courteous and professional, they turn up when they say they will and their quality of work and wood craftmanship has transformed the horribly neglected, rotten, hole-ridden outside beams of our home to a condition that makes me smile every time I look at it. I recommend this company based on our experience which has been consistently great. You feel the team cares about the task and nothing was too much trouble .. including working around and through quite a few feisty climbing roses!!
We had a damp survey carried out, and followed this survey up with a damp course from Timberwise. The Timberwise worker (Donald) that did the damp work was very kind and thorough.
Midlothian, near Edinburgh: Forrest Hamilton came to conduct a damp survey to provide advice and a quote on remediation. Unlike other surveyors he came (a) free of charge, (b) with a moisture probe (more expensive than a meter) and (c) got down on his hands and knees to investigate. Apart from one other surveyor, no other surveyor came so prepared, active and well informed. He educated me more on the conditions for dry rot which l had thought I knew all about. The upshot is he explained that I had done everything right and there was no longer any potential for rot, also showing my moisture reader was giving readings 5% too high! He was here an hour and I was not charged. Yet l now have peace of mind. Highly recommended.
I'm making the effort to write a review to specially thank Craig Jones of Timberwise's Bristol branch. We had him in to do some damp-proofing and plastering. Really happy with the work and he did. He was super considerate and an absolute gent. Would definitely use Timberwise again.
This review is for a damp survey carried out on 17/5/24 by Senior Surveyor Andy Clarke at Timberwise. Andy very quickly diagnosed the cause of a longstanding damp issue and explained the best solution to remedy it. He understood the concerns put to him regarding both the cause and the remedy, and took the time to address these with comprehensive advice and guidance - including photos and web links on best products - all in a way that was easy to understand, so incredibly helpful, and much appreciated. I would highly recommend Andy Clarke at Timberwise for his highly knowledgeable, focussed and down-to-earth surveying, carried out with utmost professionalism and impeccable personal skills.
Fantastic service from Timberwise for the work dry rot work they did on my parent’s house. Communication was swift and detailed every step of the way. Contractors were always on time, professional, courteous and explained every job in detail. I can’t thank Timberwise enough for a stress free process!
Since moving house 18 months ago we have experienced occasional musty smells in one room. Having had a great experience with Timberwise in a previous house we again turned to them. Forrest Hamilton came out within days and surveyed the situation (for free) and on this occasion it was something simple we could sort ourselves. If we have any issues in future we will definitely turn to Timberwise.
I was very inconveniently required by my mortgage provider to have a Damp & Timber Survey carried out on the property that intend buying before they would release the funds. Initially I was very concerned that any survey company would have an absolute field day with unnecessary recommendations. I was very tempted to go with an independent surveyor as they don’t actually carry out any works recommended so have no irons in the fire and not trying to look for work. The one independent surveyor that I found who was available was from out of the area and very pricey. After some consideration and trepidation I decided to go with the much more reasonably priced Timberwise and just see where the chips may fall. Well it turns out that I had no reason to worry at all. Right from the beginning I was helped by Luke Stevenson who was absolutely brilliant and even found me an earlier date. He answered all my emails and was forthright with all information. The surveyor who was assigned to carry out the survey was equally brilliant. His name is Marc Manton and he did an amazing job. I asked if he could telephone me once he had completed the survey if possible to give me a brief summary of his findings. Well he did telephone me the same afternoon and gave me a very detailed and concise verbal report which gave me much peace of mind until I received the very detailed written report a few day’s later. Anyway, it turns out I had no need to worry. They did find a few concerns but all were relevant as I identified them myself when viewing the property. All I can say is that I am most impressed with their honesty and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. A very satisfying experience indeed. Well done Timberwise. I thank you.
Saw their website and thought they might be able to help with my humidity problems, so I filled in the form for a free survey. I had a phone call this afternoon and I explained the issues I was having, I was told they could come and do a survey but it wouldn't be free and I'd need to pay £195. I asked what they would do when they came and what sort of solutions they would be investigating? Only to be told I couldn't have that information, I'd need to book a survey first. Told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine, I'm a pensioner and not about to be scammed out of a couple of hundred pounds by this bunch of charlatan's! Thank you for your reply, I have no objection to paying £200 for a survey, what I object to is when I questioned what the surveyor would do and what kind of remedies they would be looking to use, I was clearly told I couldn't have that information.....who in their right mind throws £200 to a company without knowing what they're going to get in return? I stand by my comment that you are luring people in with the intention of fleecing them. A look at your reviews shows that a lot of people have indeed paid and found that to be their experience!!
Excellent communication, friendly and efficient service. The team at Timberwise were brilliant, working in a dark, damp cellar, going above and beyond the call of duty ! Thanks for a great job.
Tim the surveyor, was helpful in confirming that we had a woodworm problem, made suggestions about the best way of dealing with it and followed this up with a detailed report and quote. Matt, the technician showed up on time, was friendly and helpful and did a good job spraying our wooden floor with the woodworm treatment. I also had a very good experience dealing with Anouska in the office, so overall I'm very happy with the Timberwise service.
Had damp and wood treatment a couple of years ago. Found more issues with damp after forever they came back and addressed, no arguments or trying to get out of it so we can't complain with that. Not ideal having to redo but it's done. The tradesmen carrying out the work were great, very professional. Messy job but they left it tidy. Would use again and highly recommend.
Ashley arrived exactly on time and surveyed our loft. To our relief he confirmed that there was no active woodworm. There was no attempt to sell unnecessary work. It was a pleasure to meet him and we recommend him without reservation.
They need to teach their drivers to drive with care. This morning 28.3.24 the driver of the van HJ71 ZZP in Bristol cut me up to the extent that I nearly crashed into a wall with my baby in the car, I had to slam the breaks on and pressed my horn, he then proceeded to take a sudden turn making me break again, continuing to laugh...
Recently had a survey and damp-proofing/re-plastering work done. Their customer services, especially Karolyn were an absolute credit to them. Unfortunately, the work they/their sub-contractors carried out was not of a great standard, especially considering the hefty price tag. To be fair they did send an operative out to remedy some of the issues, though even after this subsequent decorators and carpenters who finished the work were surprised at the poor quality of the plastering work. On top of this, the property was left filthy after the work had been carried out (entire floor covered in dust, dirt and footprints), and the original surveyor that I was directed to talk to about it essentially implied I was lying as they had pictures showing the contractors had mopped the floor (wetting the floor doesn't = clean). Very little information or support was offered pre/post work, for example the plaster was still wet 3 weeks after the work was completed, which was not communicated to me even though it impacted when a new tenant could move into the property. Overall they're not a dishonest company, it's mostly just a disconnect between them and the third parties that actually carry out the work, though I do think my money would've been better spent elsewhere.
Had a inspection by Carla Gonen (Cheshire branch) for potential woodworm in exposed timbers. Really helpful visit, had a good look around and gave sensible and reassuring advice, so I know what to watch out for and next steps if the worst happens. I'm glad I waited a little to have Timberwise out.
We recently purchased an old property which needed both woodworm treatment and significant external timber replacement. Our experience with the team at Timberwise has been first class - from the initial survey and Q&A undertaken by Marc Manton, to the contract and booking in process with Phil Pawley to the work undertaken by Aiden (Master Joiner) and Jack (Apprentice) in the most awful weather and ground conditions .. the team have been kind, helpful and professional. The final result is just amazing and there's no doubting their skill and craftsmanship. We will use Timberwise again and again to maintain our lovely old home.
