Adding to my previous review on this shady service. The product they sent me was incomplete, they sent only one piece of the three pieces of the products. Which means that the declaration to the customs clearance were wrong, since they didn't even care to check the products they were sending. Now they refunded me partially and I'm not even talking about the taxes that I paid, they didn't even completely refund me for they faulty services, missing a 1000 yen on the process. And they even refund on their own system so that I have to pay for the taxes of the currency exchange. They have a legal issue by declaring the wrong value on the package.
Let’s first give credits where it’s due: the customer service is decently responsive and quite good, at least when they're not providing misleading information. Parcels are well-packed with generous amounts of protection and wrappings. They seem rather flexible about packing instructions and will likely do their best to optimize inner spacing and package weight to your convenience. A parcel will generally be ready for shipping the day that follows its creation, which is reasonably quick. For European customers, the huge advantage that ZenMarket has over other proxy services is (as of now) their support of IOSS—VAT can be prepaid should your parcel not exceed 150 euros in value. This should in turn neutralize any customs fees you might normally be having and save you a substantial amount of money in the long run. That's about it for the good points and I guess that would be more than fine by most people's standards and needs. Now, there are a couple of things that I find otherwise rather concerning, if not fishy. - The website has horrendous UX design. This is bare-bones and reminiscent of janky interfaces from 10 years ago. This seriously needs a complete, modern overhaul, with also a much-needed, better implementation of shop APIs and features. Not to mention the glitches happening here and there, e.g. in the pagination of search results. - Most of the time, they take f****** forever to buy your items. That can range from a few minutes to 8-14 hours on average, or even +24 hours per some reported cases—this is so f****** unbelievably slow and in stark contrast with my experience using other proxies. Note that I’m *not* talking about auctions here. I missed out multiple times on insane deals on rare items, just because of their extremely poor timing. And even when some degree of automation should be involved (e.g. for Mercari items), there is still a chance that the buying process will be put on-hold for no apparent reason—even if the seller doesn’t require any particular action/confirmation/message and explicitly authorizes immediate purchases. Not that I want to come off entitled here, but when we are being charged THAT much for service fees, I consider we’ve got all the rights to complain and expect the same due level of service. - Speaking about fees. ZenMarket advertises itself as being a no-BS proxy with no hidden fees. Sounds cool, except they *do* have sneaky fees. Indeed, ZM happens to use a wallet system, which 1) is only here to f****** annoy you, 2) brings virtually no benefit over simply allowing users to buy items upfront, and 3) ends up siphoning your actual money by charging an extra 3.5% upon each deposit—not yet accounting for additional conversion fees, depending on currency and payment method. This is supposedly for covering ZM’s own bank fees, however there is very little transparency about it, and I highly suspect that they do indulge themselves and make extra profit off of deposits. 3.5% is not nothing, and as a matter of fact, this can go up VERY quickly. - Their loyalty program is insidious. For context, ZenPoints are credits earned when parcels are effectively sent out, which can then be *exclusively* used on international shipping for the next parcel. In other words, they’re not readily available. That would normally not be an issue, until you figure out that you absolutely cannot accumulate ZenPoints across parcels precisely because they’re automatically spent *in their totality* upon payment of next parcel’s international shipping, AND *without even offering you the choice* of saving them for later use. Meaning, this is a disguised incentive for impulse shopping, and everything is thought out to make you buy items over and over in anticipation of the next shipment. It’s blatant to me that it’s designed on purpose. Add to that the underwhelming rewards—expect the riveting amount of 1% cashback in ZenPoints for spending mere 500,000 yens worth of goods within 4 calendar months. To put that into perspective, this is 1 euro every 100 euros. Or, you can also opt for sobriety and buy nothing for the same timeframe, but in that case you’re back to square one losing all your hard-earned “perks”. On a more bright side, I would admit that their credit system (not ZenPoints) can be convenient when listings or unexpected rare items do pop up, which in theory would allow for more swift action by avoiding the hassle of topping up your wallet... if the item doesn't sell out before ZM buys it. Tl;dr: quite satisfied with the customer service and meticulous packing, but very slow and tedious shopping experience, from adding funds, browsing the site; to waiting for them to buy items. Only thing that motivates my use of ZM is IOSS, but if not for that, I most definitely wouldn't have switched proxies.
Excellent concept and excellent service! I will use it a lot of Times!
Once again Zenmarket have provided an awesome service. I highly recommend the company if you are interested in buying from Japan then this company is the best to use ... I have used them for six years.
Great experience overall! This was my first purchase using ZenMarket, and it definitely won't be the last! Great communication and the item I ordered was wonderfully packed!
Best website
Merci
COMPLICATED!!! NOT ALL JAPANESE GOODS ARE AVAILABLE!!! THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!!
Experience for my first zenmarket shipment was : -Good packaging (box unfortunally came slighty damaged) -The use of the IOSS is a very good thing, made customs less of a headache. -Rocky customer Service (made a specific packaging request that they totally ignored and not only that, i asked information about my package that they didnt dignify themselves to awnser and im still waiting for it after a week.) I already got my package, but the fact remains that they did not provide the information when i asked about it. Overall a good enough experience for a first time use of zenmarket, regardless the customer service needs a lot of work.
I finally found a way to buy these affordable contact lenses from overseas. Thank you Zenmarket for making the entire process so easy for a beginner. The service fees and shipping are reasonable as well. Now, onwards to buying more online Japanese products! Thank you!
Arrived fast and in good condition, the shipping prices are a bit high tho but it is easy to search and a good page for intl ppl to get things. Also they should add a way to contact the sellers like in merkari, that would be super helpful
Pire service que j'ai jamais vu. Mentent ouvertement. Tatemae classique japonais.
I ordered the complete collection of Yawara! And it came before expected, all well packaged and treated. I will buy again as soon as I can.
Thank you ZenMarket for your precious time, precise attention to every detail of performed service, being so kind and responsive, for making the experience of buying goods from Japan soooo easy, smooth and pleasant! I can confidently recommend your services to everyone and I have to be really sure about something - when I want to recommend it to people! I will be shopping from Japan with you only, I have used a different service for the same needs - but they can’t compare in comfort and confidence they provide their clients with - with Zenmarket! I got 3 Luxury Chloè bags and one was not in stock while I was charged- and ZenMarket fixed it very quickly by refunding me my money! The other two bags came perfectly packed, quick enough, the delivery prices were relatively affordable in comparison to other less client-friendly services! Overall score 11 out of 10! Hugging all hard working bees at Zenmarket and Wishing you all joyful and happy holiday season! 🎉🥰✨ Forever your client, Almaz! 🫂
It is a good proxy service for japanese goods.
