Quick to reply to my initial query, he listened to my considerations both over the phone and in person, and prepared a report that satisfied the request of my buyer for further information. Knowing that the team at Damp Detectives are independent, and not trying to sell you damp proofing products and services, is also a source of huge reassurance. I would definitely recommend this firm.

Apr 30,2025Darren did a damp survey on a Victorian era house I am buying in Oxford after my original RICS survey identified damp readings. Very clear and fast communication and got the full report to me very quickly. He understands old houses and the report was really useful in terms recommending a range of things that could be done that fit with the age of the house (rather than just injecting a chemical DPC). Highly recommend the Damp Detectives

Their fee was what we were expecting.

While the advice was clear and useful, the solutions were basic and sometimes felt overly simplistic. Improvements were suggested to help with ventilation and drainage, but certain aspects lacked deeper analysis. Overall, an average experience.

Darren (Oxford and Swindon) was incredibly knowledgable and informative, and answered all of our questions in an easy to understand way and gave very useful and actionable advice. Mar 17,2025We've had damp and mould problems in our house for over a year now without fully understanding the root cause. Our insurers sent round a leak specialist which was useful but felt more like an exercise is denying a claim rather than providing useful remediation advice. We therefore looked for a fully independent damp specialist and found good reviews for Damp detectives. Jonathan is professional, courteous, knowledgeable and, importantly, fully independent. He conducted a thorough survey, identified our root causes and provided a comprehensive report. We now feel confident addressing the issues and should finally be without the damp and mould issues. Highly recommended.

Tim came to see us with his box of fancy gadgets and meters and was able to demonstrate exactly the problem to all the interested parties. His straight talking attitude and subsequent clear and succinct report is exactly what we needed. Very good value for money, excellent advice, wish we'd spoken to him sooner.

Mar 13,2025Andy visited us in February to undertake survey and investigate areas of suspected damp and mould in two rooms, which has given us a way forward. Full report followed later. Recommended The Extraction Group who have now extracting wool insulation from our cavity walls (just over a month since Andy's visit) - insulation was no longer effective. Exploring two other ideas that were given to us before we redecorate the rooms.

He invited me to accompany him as he worked, taking time to explain and offer advice at every point. By the end I had a thorough understanding of the treatments required, and was so glad I'd chosen DampDetectives rather than a company with a vested interest in finding problems that didn’t necessarily exist.

He was thorough in his investigation, reviewing each room in the house and also assessing areas of external walls. He spent a lot of time with me, talking me through the issues that we found, the possible resolutions that I should consider and how I might like to prioritise work that needed to be done. His visit gave me both clarity and peace of mind. I’d really recommend this survey and Andy to any home owners/buyers. It was hugely valuable!

He spoke us clearly through the process in the beginning and went through any questions we had. He was very responsive on email and flexible on dates.
