I spent a month in Bali doing the Marine Conservation programme. The team were amazing throughout my whole trip.
Charith and the TMR team were amazing. They looked after us the whole time and any issues were dealt with promptly. They were also very good for asking advice about Sri Lanka and arranging transport for any weekend trips we wanted to go on. The accommodation was excellent and there was plenty food available at meal times. The accommodation was also opposite the beach and a 2 minute walk away from the pool which was a good way to spend afternoons after we had returned from our hospital placement. I had a great time at TMR Sri Lanka and would recommend to others.
Really enjoyed my medical elective with The Mighty Roar in Sri Lanka. It is run by a warm and friendly team who are always happy to help and create a lovely atmosphere whereby it is easy to meet new people and make new friends. All in all it was very good value for money and I am glad I chose to do my elective with the mighty roar.
Amazing experience with CIVS and TMR. The on-boarding process was extremely easy and the people were helpful so shout out to Dilman, Eugene and the rest of the team. Would not have had a great time if it wasn’t for them to be honest.
I joined TMR for the childcare program in Tanzania and I am now heading back to the Uk with my soul full. The work TMR do all over the world is not just fulfilling, it is necessary. The experience was a reciprocal one. I know that as one person, I can make a difference but if we all pitch in, we can make changes. The entire team at TMR, from the preflight prep to the hands on team in Tanzania, is not just professional, but authentic. I know good things will come and it’s because of the heart of the people behind these volunteering projects that we can make the world shine one trip at a time. Get involved! Seriously! One love!!
Volunteering in Ghana. I had the most amazing month of my life volunteering on the teaching programme in Ghana. Dinah, Francis and philomina are the best part of your time in Ghana. They looked after us from the minute we stepped of the plane and couldn’t have done enough for us. Busua is gorgeous and had the perfect atmosphere. After volunteering we spend our time either at the pool or on the beach and headed to the bar in the evening. An experience I’ll never forget and will definitely be going back as soon as possible!!
Had the most amazing experience at the mighty roar in Sri Lanka. The staff are all incredibly friendly, hospitable, and so easy to contact when we need help:) everything was so well organised, provided with plenty of food, and they arranged lots of fun activities!! Highly recommend
An absolutely lovely family run business allowing people to volunteer in a variety of areas. Spent three weeks here and loved every minute. An absolutely lovely place with lovely staff.
Amakalah was amazing, however the mighty roar doesn't fully advertise what's correct, they false advertise a lot of information. But in South Africa the game reserve was so pretty, I felt safe and we saw the animals up close. It was a really rewarding trip.
I spent two weeks at Imire Wildlife Conservancy in Zimbabwe were the most amazing, memorable weeks. Everything went smoothly and as described. Altough days were long are there were early starts each day (up & out at 6am), the oppourtunities were amazing and something I won't experience elsewhere. After this, I spent two weeks in Moshi, Tanzania, at the dog rescue project. Helping at the dog rescue project was great and fufilling and social/extra activities were great, but the accomdation in Moshi is not the comfiest. The Mighty Roar was great for organising and planning my trip, for asking questions and I felt I could have relied on them if there was an emergancy. Great company to use for first time travellers or for thsoe who aren't super travel confident!
Great experience
Amakhala Safari Park. The set up is very good and I was lucky to get a room to myself. You have to be aware that you need to get up early so if it’s not your bag, don’t book it. And early means 4.30/5.30 am. Days can be long but very rewarding. Helping the community was amazing. You get to see all the big 5 animals and the food provided is very good. You have to provide for yourself and it’s not 5 star hotel. Having the weekends off gives you time to experience local things. The roads are very bumpy so don’t expect tarmac !! You can so end 8/10 hours in the cruiser which can be very tiring. I am 65 years old but the Ava rage age is of course 18-25. The closeness of the pub and off licence isa big positive. 😁
I stayed in Madagascar for 4 weeks with MRCI and had a great time! I experienced so many wonderful things during my stay including swimming with turtles, a shark and seeing so much beautiful wildlife as well as meeting so many amazing people! The food on camp was all delicious and the staff was wonderful! I would definitely recommend coming here if you love nature however if you are looking to explore lots of urban areas this may not be the place for you. The camp is located 30 mins walk from the local village but other than that you’d have to get a boat to get to other larger towns. I would say 4 weeks is a perfect amount of time to stay but anywhere between 3-5 weeks would be ideal, in my opinion. I did the turtle program which is the most relaxed out of them all but I did do some teaching and the diving course which, although expensive, I would highly recommend. This definitely made my experience feel more varied so I didn’t get too bored however some people who didn’t experience other programs did find the turtle program slightly repetitive after a while and there is a fair bit of free time so it’s good to be able to occupy yourself easily. There is easy access to weekend trips which are super fun and give you greater knowledge and experience of other nearby islands. The accommodation is basic but cleaned regularly. Overall, an incredible experience! :)
I’ve had such a good time with TMR at the turtle conservation in Sri Lanka! The project is serious and ethical, where you really get to help with conservation. You get a unique insight in the life of the sea turtles and the tourism business around them. Socialising with the other volunteers has been a highlight. Everyone is open to meet new people and explore the country together. The staff is also great. Always around with smiling faces and a helping hand if you’re in need. Overall a good vibe and positive energy!
Absolutely loved it. Tanzania now has such a special place in my heart. The mighty roar’s communication is brilliant! The trips are great, make sure to budget for them. The only issue was the hostel being a bit too overcrowded when the next lot of volunteers came. Other than that it was amazing. Special shout-out to Daniel one of the drivers and Dorice a social worker who went above and beyond during our time in MOSHI.
it was a great new experience with opportunities to meet lots of new people while also doing good and helping out.the accommodation was great with the odd power cut and water stop but were quickly resolved
TMR is an amazing organization and provides with life altering experiences, which we loved. The welcome, the care, the support was fantastic. I highly recommend it. The even better if would be food choices for my 8 yrs old, we had to go twice to a restaurant as she was too hungry whilst a bowl of plain pasta, rice, cucumber or chips would feel the belly.
I spent 6 weeks on the Medical experience for my 5th year medicine elective in Sri Lanka. The Mighty Roar team in Sri Lanka; Charith, Thaksi and the rest of the team are brilliant, supportive and helpful with any needs you may have. The medical team were also lovely and helped us along the way. My time in Sri Lanka was an experience I will never forget. I have learnt so much about the medicine in Sri Lanka and most importantly made a lot of new friends along the way. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing this.
Spent 3 weeks teaching at the school in Busua. From the moment you arrive in Ghana to when you leave I felt there was nothing I couldn’t be helped with. Dinah, Frances, Philomena and everyone at the Dadson lodge were such a help and become great friends on the trip more than anything else. We were very lucky to have them. There is much more to do in Busua than I had expected and hanging out with the locals is one of the best parts along with the great fellow volunteers I met along the way. I would strongly recommend the weekend trip to the Cape Coast as well which was filed with fun and also great points of interest and culture. I cannot thank all of those at the mighty roar enough for an amazing 3 weeks

Mar 10,2025Spent 3 weeks in Thailand volunteering at an elephant sanctuary. TMR were incredibly helpful prior to my trip, answering emails prompting and helpful and useful information. I had such an amazing time at the sanctuary, meet amazing people! Would definitely use TMR again for other volunteering trip.
