Quick easy and good value
Oh dear, oh dear. Avoid Tonik! Have been with Tonik for 18 months and am now going to switch elsewhere. The reason is that their customer service/Tonik portal is just not fit for purpose. None of the meter readings I have supplied has been applied to the account. As such they whacked the monthly premium up by £25 and as my consumption has dropped, left me £800 in credit. Or may its £750 in credit? Or then again maybe £2640 in credit as I've had all these figures shown on my account page on the portal. Calls and emails go unanswered. Very frustrating company to deal with. Avoid if you can.
Unable to arrange for gas supply to be transferred from previous supplier. Tonik has been trying for 5 months without success.
Never had a problem, always had accurate bills. Very satisfied.
Absolute nightmare during the pandemic. Took weeks of sustained emails, tweets and phone calls to get a response. Clearly they furloughed all their staff and didn't care at all about their customers. Disgraceful.
Customer service is atrocious.
I left tonic over a year ago. I asked for a final bill with my meter reading. They did not calculate it. I kept ringing. Nothing. So they said they would bill me when they had calculated it. This resulted in them not ringing and passing my information to debt collectors (illegally as I am disabled) without my knowledge. They ruined my credit rating because they would not calculate me an accurate bill. A year later I get an email at 3am threatening I will be passed onto a debt collection company for a bill AGAIN. I cannot access the website to view or pay the bill. Can't get through on the phone. Ridiculous.
If I could give Tonik less than one star I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I’ve had bills for the previous occupier. I’ve tried to call them, which ended up with me on hold for an hour for the phone line to then go dead. I was apparently being put through to a manager. What a terrible company
Do not use this company!! We have been trying to get in touch for 9 months now and have heard nothing back, they are taking more money than what we owe and we fear if we don’t pay they will pass our details onto the debt collectors! I’ve experienced Nothing but stress with Tonik and warn anyone who is thinking of choosing them as a provider. We are a young couple who has just moved into our first house together and simply can’t afford to pay the outstanding chargers tonik are requesting.
Customer Service (mainly based in South Africa) takes your details and information regarding your query, BUT the problem is always passed on via email to the Back Office (Accounts Department) based in Birmingham, which you can not contact. I’ve now got 4 on going queries with my statement and I have not been contacted and nothing has been done to my Account since July 2020.
Basically having same problems as everyone else. I was with them for a year and submitted months meter readings. I never received a statement. Moved out a month ago and gave final readings. Even have an email acknowledging they received these. I finally received a statement but it was based on estimates. I phoned them and they said that my account hadnt been closed. Still trying to chase for my final bill. it's been a nightmare. Use anyone but Tonik
Would give 0 stars if I could. A few months ago, we had built up over £600 in credit and it took MONTHS to get a refund - first we were told we weren't eligible for a refund (I studied their T&Cs closely - we were perfectly eligible), had staff hang up on us several times when they said they would 'transfer us to a different department', had staff making up the weirdest and illogical excuses why they couldn't refund our money. After 3 months of calling them, we finally got lucky and had one decent person on the phone who issued the refund right away (as we were of course eligible for it). Have now left Tonik, same issue again - over £200 in credit, received final bill weeks ago where it was stated that we would receive the refund within 5 days, obviously again, this never happened. Have been ringing up for days trying to claim our refund, experiencing same issues as last time. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. They do everything they can to not have to give people THEIR MONEY BACK and they hope that after a few calls you just give up. Just disgusting.
My 91 year old dad has endured 12 months of total misery with this company. Starting with being over £3000 in credit (obviously a mistake), i rang and they said they would look into, went to £2500 in debit!!! This took 4 months to sort out with their supposed dedicated billing team. Had issues with every bill since and increases in monthly payments which will far out weigh any winter bills. I have just asked for a £200 refund which they actually agreed to (couldnt believe) only to look at dads account and they have DEBITED his account by £200, he now has no money to pay for his food and other bills. Absolute shambles of a company, Ofgem need to shut them down.
DO NOT USE TONIK ENERGY. I've had an awful experience with this company and they have ruined my credit rating, chasing me for a bill on a property I no longer own. I have a final bill from them based on a meter reading taken 6 days AFTER I sold the property (the new owners allowed this) and paid up until that date. Tonik confirmed my account was in credit and now closed and refunded me the money they owed me. Months later they started chasing me for more money and depsite 10s of emails with proof I no longer own the property or use their services and calls to their helpline (where you wait for hours to be answered and then they hang up saying they can't help) they sent me debtors letters and harassing emails claiming we owe them money. I swear it's a scam to get additional revenue from past customers who may unwittingly pay up. But with all the evidence easily to hand that the debt wasn't mine I kept refusing to pay, so they ruined my credit rating and are STILL trying to extort additional money from me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
I tend to only write favourable, good reviews for good services but I feel compelled to let people know about this company. I recently moved into rented accommodation and chose to change energy provider which I did in the first few days of moving in. I have been sent numerous letters and emails from Tonik asking me for payment for what I believe to be approximately 3 days usage (the days between moving in and switching provider). However, I have never had a bill telling me the amount I owe. I've emailed Tonik numerous times asking them to send me a bill telling me how much I actually owe. There is no contact number to ring on their correspondence, only emails. I eventually received a reply saying I'm in a queue to have my request dealt with and was given a ticket number. Several harrasing letters later and several emails asking them for their help and I'm no further on. Having read other complaints about incorrect figures on bills, changing amounts on bills, waiting for refunds etc I believe this company are acting illegally. I'm not even a customer of theirs. I'm trying to pay a bill to them and NO ONE is helping me. Causing a lot of stress for what I think should be a bill for a couple of pounds. I'd strongly advise NOT TO USE THIS company .

Recently had an horrendous experience with this company! After two years with them I decided to leave for a 'better deal', as one does. That's when the trouble started. Despite them not asking for or receiving a final bill from me I had £52 taken from my account via direct debit. then some weeks later I receive a final demand for an unstated amount which is 'overdue'. when I phoned them the youth that answered had no idea how to help, continuously put me on hold and finally admitted he had 'no answers' to my questions. I then receive emails from them in red ink threatening to commence action to recover their 'debt'. The final one of these contained a summary of my payments and showed I owed them £61. (Based on what I have no clues). Seems these people are ok until you want to leave them and then you become a target for threats for any amount of money they decide based on a whim. And they ignore your emails and continue to send you threatening emails......
Tonik do not deserve 1 star, absolutely appalling customer service. I switched suppliers after being with them a year. I gave them the final meter reading 3 times. They kept saying hadn't received and wouldn't "release" me! in the end i paid them what they asked for even though i hadnt had a bill. They said would refund me anything owing within 6 weeks. Nearly a year later they said i owed them £63! After several emails which were ignored i hung on the phone for 40min to get to speak to someone. I was told they had estimated the reading and was much higher than the correct reading. I was told to send a complaint form in and anything would be refunded. im still waiting, no email nothing, im currently hanging on the phone again and they are not picking up. So frustrating, please do not go with this pile of crooks. Im going to report them to the Ombusman
Just signed up for 2nd year with Tonik. No problems. Account easy to access online. One of the cheapest. No real reason to switch
