Northern Energy have always stayed in touch and refilled my oil tank when required. There service is excellent. Not always sure they are the cheapest but I don't compare prices as they are a local firm.
Always professional customer service staff, good communication, with text messages 24 hrs before a delivery. Delivery drivers friendly and polite. Good add on services, like boiler servicing useful. Competitive prices. Very pleased with this company.

Where is the customer loyalty ? Obtained a quote using my normal account login details. Changed email address and name and priced dropped by more than £10 on 1000 Lts and £13 on 1500 Lts. Tried a few different local addresses and names and it appears new customers get a better quote than existing customers. Well worth checking before you order ??

We currently have oil heating and wanted to fully investigate the feasibility of moving to LPG. Stephen McDermott the North West Area Manager was very helpful - visiting on two occasions to look at areas on our property where we could potentially site a tank; engaging the engineering team to confirm all the regulatory requirements; providing drawings and technical information for us to review and answering promptly any questions we had. After due consideration of all the elements we decided not to move to LPG but if we had of done, we would be engaging Northern Energy.
Do not buy oil from this company, they charged me 40% more for oil than their competitor. The average cost per litre (from Northern Energy) exceeds 60p, whereas other companies sell at circa 44p per litre in the current market. Spoke to a manager today and they will not refund the additional charges, they are happy to lose a long standing customer of 5 years. Very sad and very disappointing.
Good customer service easy to reach and they come out very quickly. They are the easiest company to work with and always very friendly.
The price I was quoted as a new customer was very competitive, so I paid by Direct Debit for a delivery and signed up to their premium package. However, I made it clear that they were not to carry out any automatic 'top-ups' as I wanted to check market prices before any deliveries. I had heard other reviews saying that they were charging an excessive unit price for 'top-ups'. When the outstanding balance for the delivery had been reduced to zero, they continued to take the same amount as before each month, without my knowledge, and ceased sending any statements that showed me in credit, which would have drawn this to my attention. When I eventually realised what was happening myself, 4 months later, I was £504 in credit to them. When I queried this, I was told that I had agreed to them continuing to take money each month - to pay toward the next delivery. I have no recollection of agreeing to that. I twice asked them for an explanation as to why they had stopped issuing statements as soon as I was in credit, but the question was ignored. On the third occasion, I was informed that I had been missed off the list 'by mistake'. This all smacks of sharp practice to me, so please beware.
I used Northern for about 5 years, relying on their automatic top up scheme - very convenient, I don't have to think about whether the tank is empty and they just keep it topped up. We've all got busy lives, they seemed a nice trustworthy company. One of my friends mentioned that they might not be, so I decided to check my bills. I tracked the average cost of heating oil against what I'd been paying for the last 5 years. It seemed like I'd been paying over the odds, so decided to test them on the next delivery. I got an anonymous quote for them for 800l on the day of my delivery - 58.6p/l. They delivered 921l at 67.1p/l. That an additional 14.4% or £78 on my delivery. A real shame because the customer service is great. Be wary. Ok for a one off delivery, but don't give them your trust.
