Northern Energy supply domestic home heating oil, LPG gas, commercial heating oil and LPG as well as Agricultural Oil and LPG from a North Yorkshire base.
Excellent service and price. Very quick switch
I’ve been a customer of Northern Energy for many years now. On Tuesday I actually ran out of heating oil, for only the second time in 15 years. My fault, I’d not checked my tank for a long time and I hadn’t realised how long it’s been since my last delivery. So I phoned up as usual, the price they gave me was the best available, as I’ve always found them to offer and despite driver shortages that all industries are experiencing NE came and brimmed my tank today. But if you know this business and you make a silly mistake, or if you just forget and need heating oil urgently, even within 5-7 days, you can typically expect to be charged a much higher price per litre. Why? Your house doesn’t move any closer to the refinery in two weeks from now than it is today. NE don’t operate like that. That’s what I like so much. Nice people, fair pricing, great service. No opportunist ripping you off for a one off hit. Don’t believe me? Visit the on-line so called buying ‘groups’ or ‘syndicates’ and see the difference between ordering for immediate delivery versus a week away. Multiply the ppl by what you normally order and see how much extra they charge you because you’re running short and might be in fear of running out.
Great service, prompt delivery and all staff I have come into contact with are friendly and professional especially the delivery driver. I would recommend this company to everyone. Thanks
if I could post a score of 0 I would have done so. Once again Northern Energy have driven down our very narrow village lane to access a house and then reversed back down to the main road hitting the guttering on my neighbours house and narrowly missing my property. I believe my presence outside my property prevented them hitting my end wall again. It was only a few weeks ago that My end wall was hit by a truck that is much too wide for the lane.
I very recently moved to northern energy from calor. I wish I had stayed with calor. I moved in November and they gave me a small delivery at the agreed price which was supposed to be fixed unless they were extraordinary circumstances. I then hit 3 notifications between 4th jan and 18th Feb increasing the price by first 3p, then 6.2p then 6.7p per litre. They then did a big delivery and note want to increase my dd from 80 to 299 pounds per month due to the high balance. I am actually in tears writing this and they have no one there youI answer the phone till Monday. I gave not got the money for this. Avoid at all costs. They all have the get out clause in the contract but calor never used it even in the coronavirus pandemic. They have been in touch since I posted this review on feefo but not to any satisfactory conclusion. I would prefer they agree that they misled me into a contract and let me go with someone else who is charging a reasonable price.. They have now let their sales person Leyton call me to shout at me and call me a liar but all on his mobile phone so no proof. I just wouldn't use them. I can't deal with someone calling when I am trying to work to shout at me. I should mention there have been 3 out of contract price hikes by Northern Energy since February. On a contract of 36p per litre, 6.2p, then 6.7p now 8p, plus the capped increase of around 3ppl and its the summer! That is 23.9p taking the ppl up to 59.9p and I've not even been with them for a year! Use someone else! That is nearly 100% increase!
Northern Energy have been supplying our Gas and Heating oil for many years now they are very proactive in there approach to customer satisfaction. You know that when you contact them your request will be followed up ASAP. Like other companies they have to raise there prices in line with wholesale costs, but they are never slow to bring them back down when possible. All in all a great company to work with.
Local company with excellent customer service. They know you from you phone number when calling and give prices before ordering. Delivery drivers friendly and helpful.
Moved to Northern Energy after years with one of the largest national home oil suppliers. What I like about Northern is: 1) The phone gets answered quickly and I get to speak with someone who is knowledgeable and friendly ever time. 2) I've found I no longer need to check out the market and prepare myself for 10 minutes of haggling. Prices are market leading 3) Deliver is always on time and the drivers are efficient and considerate. 4) My brass stays up North.
First time I’ve moved home and encountered oil fired C/H since the seventies. Northern Energy were fast, easy to deal with and a lot more accessible than the more well known utility providers. Can’t beat the personal touch.
We have been customers for 8 years, always good service, friendly and helpful from order through to delivery
This company has excellent staff in their office and tanker drivers.
Recieved a delivery, I did not arrange. The delivery note states 1340 lt delivered. As i only have a 1410 lt tank and it was filled to 85%,even an empty tank would only take 1200 lt. It was NOT empty. A RIP OFF to say the least, complained and await their reply. Also had a deal of 39p per ltr 9 march 2020 when I joined them for 12 months. In January, a top up was charged at 45.70p per ltr in Jan 2021, within the 12 months. RIP OFF. Agreement went on to give a guarantee of maximum increase of 4p per ltr in 2nd year until 9th March 2022, therefore max per litre should be 43p. The afore mentioned RIP OFF top up was charged at 51.9 p per litre, 8.9p per litr above the SIGNED agreement. This company are a RIP OFF.
Phoned on Monday to request an LPG refill. Recieved a phone call later in day to let me know that a delivery had been arranged for the next day (Tuesday) Then, following delivery I had a question about the price, so phoned and it was all resolved quickly and efficiently.
Updated review from last year: Now happy to give 5 stars as the service has improve 100% over the last year. Northern Energy have been careful to keep in touch and schedule our deliveries so that we don't have to worry about running out and always ringing to let us know of our delivery date. In fact they've even been able to come to us a bit earlier than their estimate, which gives us peace of mind. Thank you Northern Energy! (Previous review March 2021: We've been with this company for nearly 6 years & they used to be excellent, but for more than a year now we have had real problems getting a delivery in the winter when we need it. This winter has been terrible - we're promised a delivery then no-one turns up and we have to keep ringing or emailing and we still can't be given a date for delivery. We're good customers, on a top-up service but they just don't turn up when promised and we have to keep requesting an urgent delivery as we're so low and we STILL don't get it... The last delivery we were literally within hours of having to shut off the heating so as not to get water in the system, and had been promised a full tank, but as always nowadays, they didn't have enough on the tanker and it was barely filled our tank to 3/4. The very cold weather was due so we asked for a delivery again ASAP and to fill our tank to the top and we were promised it would be the last week of February at the latest, but once again, no-one turned up and we're getting low again... We're at our wits end and worry the whole time whether we'll have enough to last through the cold weather. We never get an explanation as to why this keeps happening but can only surmise it has something to do with being in a very rural area. We often get cut off when it snows so worry a lot about not having enough oil and no-one being able to reach us, all of which we've explained time and time again, with no apparent concern from the company. We certainly can't recommend Northern Energy - they've been terrible to us and we don't know why.)
Not for the first time, or even the second have Northern Energy upped my LPG price in winter, not surprising you might say, as heating costs do increase in winter. Also there is a section 4c relating to unforeseen costs, fine, I'm still in there, still playing the game. However, with notification of increases on 8/1/21 of 6.7ppl followed up by 19/2/21 by a further 6.2ppl I was starting to think about burning £20 notes on an open fire instead, BTW it's also interesting to note that within one week (maximum) of their increase they are at my home topping up just one of my tanks (at their new rate) as the other is still full, and not in need of any attention. Today 27/2/21 the weather is fine, I've been in the garden and got chatting to my neighbours, both Northern Energy LPG customers. To my great dismay I find I'm paying 8 and 10ppl MORE than they are for LPG, it's hardly delivery costs as the wagon is parked in the same place for all 3 deliveries, care to enlighten me more on OUR pricing situation.
We've had excellent service from this company for years. It's a good idea that they remind customers a month before Christmas to check their LPG or oil levels. Ours went down after that very quickly and we had to email for delivery as soon as possible after the holiday. The office replied promptly the day they were back, arranged quick delivery and phoned to tell us and make sure we were OK.
Another bad experience with Northern Energy I'm afraid - as part of our contract with them we are urged to use their service engineers. However, a week or so after their service of the boiler we had to call them back: the first time as it stopped working entirely, leaving us with no heating or hot water and the second time (a week or so later) to fix an oil leak.
We had a 'Privilege Plus' package with Northern Energy from 2017 until November this year.. This is a scheme which tops your oil up when they are in the area. After checking how competitive their prices were on the last two fill ups we decided we could get a much better rate with other providers. When we called to cancel the agreement we were told they they were about to cancel it anyway as we did not order enough oil with them. The agreement we signed was for 2000 litres per year which we had complied with. I emailed 2 weeks ago to express my annoyance at their response which I considered to be 'sour grapes' because we were cancelling and we have had no response at all. Hence my review on trustpilot to highlight their indifference to loyal customers.
Always excellent service. Both office staff and delivery drivers are pleasent, helpful and knowledgeable. Competitive prices too.

Oct 05,2021Just arrived in a new home and needed oil though never used it before. Contacted NE, they were really helpful and explained the whole process and didn't even have to be in to accept the delivery. Top marks
